Congrats Cibo.....I was 30 when I purchased my first house. I decided to wait so I could save up my $$$ and have plenty in the bank to do whatever I wanted on my house. I am so happy for you!!!!!
Just because you see Charlie doesn't mean I am a he....sometimes Charlie can be a she!!!!
Thanks guys.. its SCARY but exciting.. Being in the military makes it hard to be a homeowner since we tend to move every 2 to 3 years but I am trying to dabble into investing in real estate by owning some rental property. Once I leave the Virginia area I plan on keeping it and making it a rental property so that I can continue to build equity towards my dream home when I really get super old OH well, Mortgate rates are low, I am virtually debt free and my credit rating is outstanding plus I am in a great area so I figure I will jump in and try it out... Yeeesh... scary stuff but I am more and more glad that I am taking the risk

congrats. they talk about sticker shock when buying a car, when you go to settlement and the magnitude of the debt you are signing up for hits you, you'll be a bit dazed, but it's a great time to buy. happy Birthday!

There are some benefits to renting over purchasing a home, but in most cases you'll be much better off. We purchased our first home when I was 26, making about $6.50/hr as a bank teller. Looking back, I don't know how we did it. We had it paid off for about 4 years, then we decided to have a child and bought a bigger house last summer. Now I'm almost 43 and have a mortgage that's 4x the amount of the old one was. Talk about scary.....
Congrats Cibo! I know that feeling, purchasing a home. I just recently purchased my second. Truly a wonderful feeling!! Oh and of course Happy Birthday as well!
Congrats Cibomatto! I will be 28 in July and we just bought a condo and got it on March 31st... now we're doing renos before we move into it next Saturday.

Happy Birthday and congrats on the purchase! I am 26 now and am actively searching for a house to buy! Rates are really good, but man those prices really hit the ceiling the last couple years too! What a stressful thing it is just looking and deciding what to get, then figuring out if you will be able to afford to eat more than saw dust after buying it! I hope your house treats you well! Good luck and enjoy!!
