Replacement factory 16" alum. rims

Post by Lava red'04 »

I may have wasted one of my factory alum. rims this morning on my way into work. I hit a rock that slit the inside tire sidewall and made contact with the rim. I'm going to stop on my way home tonight to have someone take a look at the rim. Outside of the dealer, does anyone know where I could get a new or nearly new rim? Thanks!

I see them on eBay periodically. For some reason they are often an auction for only one wheel.

Best bet would be a used one... not pulling your leg on this one but a new one from the dealership is around $400-$600 CAD... which is why I went with aftermarket rims on my Vibe now... $600 is two rims and tires...

Thanks. I found a local rim dealer (check them out at motomotion.com) that sells refurbished rims of all makes. My rim, though damaged, was a "good core" and so the replacement rim was only $160. It looks and drives just fine.

Sounds like you got a good deal there.

Get a wheel from anyone but the stealership. They charge a huge amount for them! Most likely to gouge insurance companies for collision repair parts.Keep an eye on Ebay, check out some of the refinishing places, and also maybe call around to your local scrap yards. If they get a Vibe in that has been totalled, they may have a good wheel laying around.
