Have you heard about Michigan insurance rates

Post by syclnjr »

So I am sitting aorund last night reading the paper and they are going to raise our damn insurance rate by 127 bucks a year for each car that you have insured. Just thought I would let all us michiganers know if they haven't found out already.

Yes, I saw something on the news about that. I don't know too much as to why, but the news segment I saw basically said it's to cover "no-fault" losses due to uninsured motorists, and long-term catastrophic losses. Those of us law-abiding, responsible citizens paying for the irresponsible again.Hell, between Grandholm's new vehicle/trailer licencing fee structure, and automobile insurance in MI, I think I may go back to a horse. We recently had to take a cut in pay at work due to the consumer price index dropped, so it must not cost as much to live as it used to.

actually... the increase is $27 per vehicle, adding that to the $100 they tacked on last year brings it up to the $127 per vehicle you were referring to. so it's not as bad as you thought, but still worth some frustration

Hey guys,Yeah, I heard bout this too. But I didn' know it was that substantial. That kinda sucks that we honest citizens gotta pay for the irresponsible. We got 4 cars in the house. Everyone of them is one full coverage. We got my 04 Vibe, my dad's 03 Taurus, and then my bro's 03 Sentra Spec-V and his 98 Sentra XE. All under the same person's name. Kinda of a bummer. O well, whatha gonna do. Take it easy guys, peace.Inder Singh

Really? I don't recall my insurance lowering at 23 (even with a spotless record). It didn't lower until I turned 25.

I pay about $1000/year now for my brand new GT. State Farm, no accidents/tickets ever. It's up about $350/year over what I was paying for a '93 Saturn SW2 with 160K miles...

I pay just under 1400 and I'm 24 with probably only 1 speeding ticket still left on the record, but my mom told me yesterday that it just went up. I'm not sure how much yet.

We have Citizens. When I got the Vibe, they told me to stay on my dad's policy so we could get the multiple-car discount. I'm not convinced it's a discount. My sister was supposed to be looking into other companies, but I think she dropped the ball. How long do insurance companies keep tickets on your record? I think speeding tix come off your driving record after 2 years and 3 months, but I think insurance keeps them longer. Anyone know?

Hmm...that sucks. Apparently the government is charging $7 to request your own driving record. I wonder if they would just tell you what's on it if you stopped by the police station. http://www.michigan.gov/sos/0%....html
