Electrovaya Scribbler Tablet PC (Windows XP Tablet Edition) - 866 PIIIMobile, 512 MB RAMTreo 600 jus' like RasermonThe bottom line is that if you have the freedom to go with a Mac - no ties to Windows-platform software, no requirement for absolute 100% conversion of Windows file formats - and a strong interest in computer media tasks, like audio/video production and editing, I'd run and not walk to a Mac. Unfortunately, the "no ties to Windows-platform software" doesn't apply to many of us, particularly for me in the legal industry, where a good majority of and the best software is on the Windows platform. Hence Apple's devoted 10% marketshare.

But, since OSX is Unix based you have more freedom to play with the operating system. And running Windows apps on a Mac is as easy as running Virtual PC (which is supposed to be more stable than a PC). I'm thinking of buying a laptop, and the more I look at it, you seem to get more "bang for your buck" as far as laptops go. Desktops, however are a different story.

I've used Virtual PC and although it's impressive, it doesn't always work well with highly specialized software. That brings me back to my initial point - if you're not tied to highly-specialized software, try getting away from Windows and go Mac - or, as another poster stated, even better - go Tux.

SuSE 9.0 Pro here...My stuff: Two AMD Duron 1600's that don't get a lot of use...Ironically, the most heavily used machine is a Toshiba Libretto 110ct "laptop." Whopping Pentium 233, 64 megs of RAM, but I did add a 20 gig HD. Love that little thing, and when closed, it is slightly larger than a VHS tape. Also have a Sharp Zaurus 5600 (PXA255/400 MHz) which allows me to take Linux with me everywhere I go.

Well, best buy had a 15.2" Powerbook on a really good sale, so now i have one of those.I play Warcraft 2.0 and 3.0, ONI, Hexan, and a smattering of other games on my Mac. But if I really want to play games, I usually use my PS2 or my original Nintendo!!
