Agreed, check Edmunds.com they have a section that will get you a local price with all delivery charges and what options you want etc.

In order to get any specific advice you need to get specific on the details, e.g. brand new, demo, total MSRP including destination charge, dealer discount, regular rebate(s), any GM Card rebate etc., other "fees", any trade-in etc. Typically you can expect the regualr rebate(s) and a dealer discount of $1,000-1,200.

I trust you are happy. I bought my VIBE MSRP $18,690 for $14,717.67, 5.75% tax, title fees and full tank of gas but what does that tell you - nothing.

Just realized my post may have been unclear - the $14,717.67 was "out the door" including 5.75% tax, title fees and full tank of gas.

thebisch,I'd say the dealer is aggressively trying to move the car*! I went to Pontiac.com to see the cars in your area matching your specs, but the 'View Sticker' function isn't working at this hour.Salsa VIN=5Y2SL62814Z457715Neptune VIN=5Y2SL62854Z463257MANGINO PONTIAC-BUICK, INC.1484 SARATOGA RDBALLSTON SPA, NY 12020Is this a cash price, or financed? GM financing or dealer financing? The best my local dealer would do on a new Vibe in January 2004 was about $900 off the sticker (after rebates) of a car that listed at $20,280. But then he's only sold 4 new Vibes in 4 months. That's why I bought a used one elsewhere.*Making a few assumptions, (yeah, yeah, I know, it makes an *ss ...) and working with your numbers...1) I assume you do not have any trade-in value figured in these prices.2) I assume that the dealer is not making a huge profit on the sales tax. (Indiana retail merchants get a collection allowance of .0087 of the state sales tax they collect, which would be about $11.00 in this case)3) I assume the total of rebates and cash-back offers is $2,000, as listed on the Pontiac website. From time to time, GM offers additional 'recent grad', military service, and 'bonus cash' incentives, too. It varries by region. If the total of these offers is higher (say $3,000), then you're getting an OK deal, but not anything earthshaking.$19,365 List - $2,000 rebate = $17,365 net.$16,370 (your 'out the door' price) - 8.25% tax or $1,248 = $15,122 taxable price$17,365 (Net after rebates) - $15,122 (taxable) = $2,243 discount. I think that's well below 'invoice', and down into the 'GM Employee' or 'GM supplier' range.

I belive the breakdonwn is...$19365 MSRP$18344 Dealer sell$2000 rebate$1000 conquest rebate$500 thing/certificate from the dealerI was hoping to get in the $15000-$15500 OTD range, but after 2 months of dealing I don't think I will be able to pull it off! I might actually bite the bulet and get the car, I really like it.

IMO and experience a $1,021 dealer discount on that MSRP is about as good as it gets, and the total rebates of $3,500 are something most would be VIBE owners (and the majority of present owners) would salivate over. As they say, strike while the iron is hot!

Can you tell me more about the two items listed below?$1000 conquest rebate$500 thing/certificate from the dealerMy Vibe arrives on the truck in the next two weeks and I am taking the 2,000 cash back and the 1,000 on the gm card. Since it didnt come in March, I missed out on the additional 500 back that was offered and would really like to make that back.ThanksBob

Since your dealer is knocking $1000 off the price of the car before the rebates hit, your probably getting just about as good of a deal as you will be able to in your area. Usually the difference between invoice and MSRP isn't much more than that for an under $20K car. Usually a fair price is $500 over invoice, and by the look of it, that is about where you are.If you like the car, go for it. You may be able to save a little more by waiting if they get eager to clear the lot for the '05's. But it looks like a good deal already, and if you wait too long you may not get the car you want, forcing you into an '05 which probably won't have as good of a deal right off the bat.Choice is yours, but the deal doesn't sound bad as it is. Good luck!

rlong97150,I don't really know what the $500 thing is. The conquest rebate, at least in my area, is a $1000 rebate for showing reg. of a non GM vehicle. IIRC this is good until 4/9/04.

I think that is a good price. There will be others who have paid less, and others (like me) who paid more, but the price you posted sounds plenty fair.So when do you pick it up?
