I had the 85315 initially, but when they died, I bought from a different store, and apparatnyl they were the 85115. I think I liked the 315 better. Sounded a bit more agressive IMHO.

or you can go for the Hella Tripple Air Hirn and sound like any of the following: A Roach Coach(you know the lil catering trucks you find at construction sites.), A NYC Cab, A Ricer on Crack, or the nice sweet sound of a Ferrari! Yup that's right, not that they use this horn but I heard on once and that's what is reminded me of. oh and they are loud as hell!

Rob.........I have a ? about your cargo rack. I went to that web site and it was very user friendly. How much did you spend + did you buy off the net or locally? Thanks........Don
I want to get a dual air horn and mount it under the hood so it sounds like a tractor trailer. I was thinking about ordering some from Mack, but after looking at them on some of our trucks, they will be too long to fit. I also have to find a place to mount the air compressor and run the air lines. I've seen smaller air horn kits for sale that were meant to be installed on cars, I just wonder what they sound like. On our trucks, they all sound different. Some are single horns, some dual. They also vary in length so their pitch is different also. I'd love to lay on the air horn in my Vibe, people would be looking and wondering where the noise is coming from. Bye bye wimpy horn!

Make sure it's legal to put air horns on your car in your area. I think NJ has laws saying you can't put air horns on anything other than a truck...Found the Hellas (315's) on eBay...got 'em with shipping for $52, can't wait till they get here.I'm gonna hook them up through a second relay and keep the stock horn..just so I can give people a "before / after"..

Don.....as for the rack's themselves, you are going to need a pair of Q-Towers (for the front) and a pair of Lowriders (for the back). That was about $120. You'll need a set of 2 Q83 Clips $20. And I got the 48" round bars for $36. The Loadwarrior which is the basket was pricey a good $240, Land Shark (kayak carrier) was $56. I never knew it would be so expensive to carry stuff, but I love em, great for carrying small amounts of lumber and long tables. The only thing I think I am going to need to purchase id the faring, The extra bars whistle like mad at 40 mph. Another thing you might want to invest in would be a set of locking cores. less than $30 and you don't have to worry about your investment growing legs.I bought mine at campmor. A local outdoor store http://www.campmor.com but I'm sure most outdoor stores and automotive aftermarket shops could get them for you. Happy trails.Rob

I'm new the GenVibe pages and looked through the recommended readings as well as a few of the forums...I'm looking for the walk through for Horn installation as I've just picked up a pair of Hella Supertone's.ThanxT
My horns aren't in yet (expected next Wednesday), but I can give you a general idea. Either that, or someone else can step in.. I'll post up pics and a general how-to guide once I get them in.. If you don't wanna wait, PM me, and i'll work a bit faster on getting a guide setup somewhere.

Mike - Very sweet...i'm surprised you didn't use the relay though... i'd worry that adding that size horn (two of them, no less) would stand the chance of pulling too much current..I'm actually going to add a second relay in mine... and keep the stock horn in place. I'll use the second relay to normal to the Hella's, and switch to the stock horn when I want...that way I can really freak someone out..

Believe it not, I have not had a single problem with the horns despite leaving out the relay. To check, I held the horns on for a constant 15 seconds without so muhc as a flutter in the tone.

I just installed my Hella Supertones today! They sound so much better than stock and the one sound clip on here! I wasn't too impressed with the sound clip, but after seeing how popular they are, I didn't think I could go wrong. I got the 300 & 375 mHz model on ebay from the seller ko4zb. I paid $40 plus $8 for shipping. Not bad. He sells them all the time on there starting at $25. I received them in less than a week.Hey Mike, thanks for the installation guide. It helped me out a bit. Now I can use the horn and not be embarrassed. Later,

Not yet, I need a few more things to install them (wire/crimper etc) I'll swing by in a day or so to pick all that up. Hopefully sometime this coming week. I downloaded Raginfishs install pdf and I think (hope!) that I can do this on my own.
I also used Raginfish's instal. "No Problems!" Little rough getting the grills out at first, just take your time. I would suggest, to be safe, to put a piece of wood in the radiator support bracket when you drill the hole for the extra horn bolt to help protect the radiator. If you start with a smaller drill bit first & work your way up to your finish size it should make it go easier as well.
FOA, thanks from another grateful genvibe member to ragingfish for his excellent install notes. Really saved me time on the grille removal.Secondly, you CAN paint the Hella horns; you just have to be careful. I got mine used (from another genvibe member, VibeNRide) and, because the grilles had been handpainted with touchup paint, needed to be repainted. I removed the grilles (which wasn't a picnic...the screws were rusted badly), sanded them down, put on primer and two coats of black enamel and "WAHLAH!*" I also replaced the screws with chrome ones.I may go back and re-finish the diaphragms, as they have some rust. If I do...and it works...I'll post.================================* That's Texan for "voilà "; I know my Spanish!
From what I recall it was fairly straightforward... did your horns come with directions? I just followed the ones in the box, the version without the relay.Did have to drill an additional hole on the opposite side for the second horn. Be careful not to hit the radiator. Think I shoved some cardboard in between just to be safe.

Yes, they came with instructions but in my opinion, they are not very good. They suggest using the relay to "avoid voltage drop". So the two diagrams show using the relay. First diagram is if.. "Horn push negatively connected to existing horn"second diagram is if ..."Horn push positively connected to existing horn"huh? How am I supposed to know? It also mentions disconnecting the "earth lead of battery"... never heard that one before. Internet search states that it is the negative lead.

Hey Knightrace,I just installed the Supertones and just need to get some wire loom in there to clean up the wiring, then I'll have a few pictures of the process and will do a write up. So if you can wait a day, I'll get that posted in the next day or so.My horns' included diagrams showed 2 options for set up where either the Hella horns would become the only horn, or would be secondary to the OEM horn, and selectable with a toggle switch. I can't think of any case where I would want my horn less loud so I opted for the first option.Crabbycrab*edit: tah daaah http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=43689
Sorry man, my horns came with really good instructions, maybe those were something Griot's garage added in. Had two opts one with relay, one without. Weird. Hopefully crabbycrab can hook you up.
