The final checkup before warranty expiration!!

Post by Kissfan79 »

Well....this is it. My GT has about 32,000 mile on it and I am taking her in on Thursday for what will probably be her last dealer checkup before my warranty expiration. I am going to have them look at all of the funny squeeks, rattles, and otherwise "funny" sounds it makes. I am also going to have them check out the the clutch burn that I get even when I am not spinning a tire. If I give her a little extra gas just to get across an intersection, I get that burning clutch smell. What do you guys think? Should I have them look at the 2 bolts that engage lift while it is there? I remember a loing time ago, there was a thread about these bolts wearing down and impairing lift. I was kinda' hoping they wouldn't charge me anything just to look at 'em to see if they are indeed wearing a bit. Anyways lemme know what you guys think. I hate the final dealer checkup before the warranty expires......then...I am on my own . Unless I buy an extended warranty really quick.Jim

Let us know what they find out, maybe we can catch something before it becomes a major problem!By the way, long live the StarChild.

The door gasket itself seems to be fine, however, the small gasket that the window slides up into has come out a bit. I'll have em look at that as well.Jim

I am at the same point. My Vibe has 33,300mi, and has never been to the dealer. I have a couple of things that I am trying to decide if I want to have looked at. Here is the list, please let me know if you have same issue:Drivers power window is jerky going up and downRattle in dashVibration/buzz from passenger side at 20 mphClock loses 1.5 minutes a monthDo I attempt to have this fixed? I got my car at a really small dealer. He has one mechanic, and services Pontiac, Buick, and GMC trucks.

I went ahead and got the 5 yr 75000/mi warrantyIt's my first new car so I want to make sure I am covered for awhile. I feel like I should break something though, I haven't had to use the warranty yet.

Mine was acting up the same way and as it turns out the metal arm was bent from the wind grabbing the door and slamming it open. I have 78,000 miles.-Savoy-

Well, she's at the dearlership. They did say they couldn't look at the bolts that activate the larger cam lobes without actually charging me for the time being as there isn't a problem with them. While waiting for my rental pickup, I got to check out some sweet looking GTOs. They may be kinda' plain looking but they are SWEET! I'll let ya'll know what they say about the rest of the stuff.Jim

SCORE!!!! Well...here's the deal: First off, they could not reproduce most of the squeeks or sounds that I was reporting however, there was a TSB about a sound comming from the console in front by the radio. They took the front piece off, trimmed a tab, and insulated it with insulation tape. Second, they are replacing both molding strips around the windows in the doors. The driver's side had started to pull out a bit near the mirror and water would "gurggle" around in the crease (never made it inside the car though). Now.....for the grand finale.....I am getting a brand spanking new clutch disc, pressure plate, and release bearings installed!!! They have to order a couple of parts, but in a week or so, I should have an entirely new clutch system. They said they would also service the flywheel while it was apart. My rep said that there was no TSB issued about the clutch, but after hearing about my clutch burn on stuff like scooting across an intersection and the fact that I am the original owner, he pleaded my case to the service manager and he got it to happen. He did say that my clutch engaged kinda' high. Boy....am I glad I took her in with 3500 miles left under the warranty. Also.....when I got my warranty rental car this morning, it wasn't the Doge Neon I got last time. This time, they hooked me up with an 04 GMC Yukon. It had the 6 disc in-dash CD changer with the Bose system in it. That was a sweet ride. I will pick my car up tomorrow AM and take it back in a few days when the parts arrive. After the new clutch is installed, I will give ya'll an update as to how the new one feels compared to my old one with 32,500 miles.Jim

Sounds good, your getting everything done though. This a GM dealership that gave you a neon last time? Weird lol... we only lend out GM products and even the rental companies we use MUST rent us GM products because we don't want them liking say a neon...

I find it hard to believe that would like a neon. That's probably why they lent it out.

Actually, what my dealership does is shuttle you over to the Enterprise around the corner and they pick up the tab. All I have to do is return he rental back to Enterprise with the same amount of gas in it as when I got it.Jim

I must say...I was impressed by the fact that they agreed to change the clutch. Needless to say...I'll write a glowing survey to return when it comes in the mail.Jim

They actually pick up our customers and put them into a car and then bring them back. They also bring around a box of donuts now and then to, really nice folks. They don't rent out ford or chrystlers to our GM customers lol specially when its GM paying for the rental. We also have a shuttle service to run people to work or home and pick them up. The CSI survay question "Was alternate transportation offered you" we are the highest in ontario with over 90% as opposed to the district being in the low 80%
