Can't say a thing for the photo, could be fixed, no idea, but true shaolin monks are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! They've stodd completely still as people broke 2x4 boards over their chests/arms/heads. They didn't even move an inch when they got hit. Talk about self-control! My sensei from Isshinryu Karate is like 65+ years old, and he can split a stack of bricks 15 high right in half

I wear my cup through all two hours of my karate class, even for the stretch workouts. Accidents can happen obviously and I want full use of my body parts lol... but we are stepping into a need to know basis and some of you just don't need to know j/kmy roundhouse kick is always a headshot because of my height... same with side kicks.

Cups are too annoying, all bulky and stuff >I'll spar with you, but it's been a while since I've been in a kumate/tournament, I'm putting myself through training so I can start again. Sure, sounds like fun. I get the bat, ok?

Kumate isn't a one-place-only thing, it's a Japanese tournament, typically for Karate students. the Isshinryu school I was trained in held a private Kumate every Thursday for students who held a high enough belt. *Gets into a story-telling pose* I started out in Tae Kwon Do (They focus a lot on flashy kicks), and thought I had something over the Isshinryu students when I started there. So my first match in the Kumate is against a black belt in that school. The second the sensei started the match, I literally flew backwards 5-10 feet and landed hard on my (removed). Ahh well, that was years ago, and taught me a bit about humbility

Psst, Mavrik, here's an Asian man's secret: You don't have to do the splits all the way, just go as far as you can, then grunt a lot as you lean forward onto your arms.
