I am getting to the point that I ready to get a new car. Don't worrt the vibe is staying, it is my other car that is going. Although the Alreo has been ok, I want to get something a lot sportier. I am think ing about a budget of About $30 000 for the car. Any suggestions as to what to get. Since the buget is 30, I am thinking of a resale so options are wide open

Unless there is some kind of crash test or something that it didn't pass. It would definitely be rare up here. It would be my choice also. I'm going to check into it just for fun.
Toyota MR2 Toyota MR2 Toyota MR2 Toyota MR2 Toyota MR2 Toyota MR2 Toyota MR2 Toyota MR2 Toyota MR2 Toyota MR2 Toyota MR2 Toyota MR2 Toyota MR2...subliminal enough? Fun to drive, great mpg, great resale, handles real nice etc etc etc
Base Two Tone Satellite, Auto, & Pwr Pkg....my current commuting car.
Mini Cooper SDriving should always be about having fun, I spent 9 years with a completely boring econobox. I test drove a Mini... I didn't want to give it back. If you can afford it, buy something fun and frivolous. We only live once. I can't imagine being stuck with a boring car again.
I know $30K for a car in Canada is a lot less than $30K American, so I am gussing cars like the RX-8, 350Z etc are a bit out of your price range. How sporty are you thinking? 98 Corvette's can be had for less than half the price of a new one in the states with reasonably low mileage. Insurance might own you on it, but it is sporty. A little less toned down from that, there are plenty of choices. Mustang GT's, FWD imports such as the RSX, Celica GT-S, VW's, turbo cars like the SRT-4 and WRX. What are your main criteria (engine size, turbo or N/A, fwd, rwd, awd, 2 door only, hatch only, or neither, sporty car with some practicality or is an all out sports car such as the MR2, with next to no utility, ok?)
That's right Fformula88,Maybe wait on a Ion Redline? The SRT-4's are nice looking also. The finally announced the pricing on the Redlines...http://www.gminsidenews.com/fo...86&hl=
This car is going to be fur fun only. The last thing that I want is practical. THe new z350 and rx8 are out of the price line mainly because I am going to have to get a winter car if I get something like that. The mr2 is an interesting thought. Maybe even its big brother the supra Twin turbo. i have looked at the mini cooper S and the biggest problem with that would be that my wife would drive it all the time. Yes I would be "stuck" with the Vibe Gt. the reason that I am throwing this out there is because there are a lot of great sports cars out there that I have not even thought of like the SRT 4. The more opinions I get the better my chances of a really cool car.thanks so far
sorry, still not a fan of the neon even if it's the srt-4. everyone is getting those golf or jetta 1.8L or even the vr6! that would be fun. and the mazda 6s.... nice
Looking for more fun factor than the mazda 6. Two door and faster than juice through a goose. Another factor is that I don't want something that everyone else has or has had. Things like the mustang, camaro and the vet are like belly buttons. Everyone has one, and if they son't have one then they know someone who had one that was "the fastest car of the street....You know, with a little engine work you could have one just like......" blah blah blah
nah, he said he's looking for more fun factor than the mazda 6 even and that has much more hp and performance than the ga gt. what about a honda s2000? that'd be tons of fun!!!
find a used '01 Saab 9-3 Viggen. I had one, and it was fun as hell. Parts are a little pricey, but if it's a car for enjoyment only, then you can't go wrong. Only 21 hardtops were imported into Canada in 2001, so you're assured a little bit of exclusivity.a little eye candy for you...
80750km and counting: '04 Salsa Vibe GT Mods: cargo net...a damn sexy one too.Garage mates: 2003 Saab 9-5 Aero, 1998 Kona Firemountain

Great heater for those Canadian winters, too!I had a used '88 900 Turbo SPG: 2.0 liter/16-valve dohc/intercooled/205hp/premium gasI called it J.C. I bought it on Good Friday, it /bled (leaked oil) all over the driveway, and when the turbo kicked in, accelerating hard in 3rd gear, everyone who rode with me would exclaim "Jesus!"It's the only car I've ever made money on. I bought it for US$4,500 and sold it for $4,700 a year later!Check on the cost-to-insure, though. Mine cost over three times as much as any of the other three (newer) cars on my auto policy, and I worked for the insurance company at the time, so I got an additional 10% discount.
My 2003 Vibe Base Auto 2-tone Salsa "SalsaWagon" was built in May 2002. I acquired it in Feb 2004/Traded it in on a 2016 Honda HR-V in Feb 2018.
You should wait for a year until the Pontiac Solstice roadster hits the market, maybe wait a little longer until the 240 HP S/C motor is put in. It definately looks like a winner to me!In the mean time, just to tide you over, find yourself a used Miata or MR2 to keep your sporty driving needs satisfied. If you cannot wait, then definately look at Miata and MR2. They are awesome drivers cars. Other than that, maybe look at the Celica GTS or a Focus SVT, Acura RSX-S. All three are not quite up to those roadsters, but are also very fun driving cars.
