Post by blk182@n7 »

I've used the RP products in my GT. Still in the tranny but the motor oil started feeling thin at 4k mi. I felt it was too costly if it wasn't going to make 5k intervals without shearing down. Apparently the dino oil in their blend is not as highly refined and weight stable as some others. It felt great while still in grade. There are 3 or 4 grades (groups) of dino. RP racing 21 is a great full synth and the right weight but not an API rated oil required for warranty. I've also used Mobile 1 and felt the engine was too mechanically noisey with it. I'm currently on my second 5k fill of Schaeffers blend and like it a lot. I've also heard good things about Castrol 0w30 that is a real synth supplied from Germany but 0w30 is also not an approved weight even though '0' is better for cold starts. SYNERGYN also has some nice API rated oils. It's competetive with RP, Redline but will hold the API warranty and extended drains of 7.5K in a GT which seems hard on oil.

Oil

Post by blk182@n7 »

that was my bad RP = Royal Purple I suspect. I have noticed that the mobil 1 seems to make the engine louder, i have not used the RP as of yet. How hard was it to change the tranny oil? The cost isnt a factor for me I will still change my oil every 3K Mi anyway...

It's a manual. No flush required. Drain, replace plug, fill from fill plug until it reaches bottom of fill hole, replace fill plug.
