Looking for Downriver shops

Post by chaotic_amber »

Ok, I'm Downriver (just south of Detroit, MI for the non-locals) and I'm looking for any decent shops for car accessories and modifications. Since finding this site and getting my Vibe I've definately been bitten by the modification bug. Well I'm in talks with Ryan at Grafxwerks for some decals. I swapped out to a 650 CCA battery this afternoon. I have a set of Hella horns bookmarked for when finances are more forgiving. But in order to price a few of the other modifications I need to know where to go.Both my wife and I are considering tinting the windows and I am leaning toward getting some of the interior trim painted (I saw Trdvibes interior and decided I MUST have it done to my own). I also wouldn't mind finding a decent detailing place for a good wax job once in a while.Anybody got any reccomendations for local shops that could either help or point me in the right direction?

As for painting the inside. I like the idea of switching out the whole things with the new colored pieces. You can buy a whole set for th inside at around $150-$175. And then you don't have to worry about paint chipping or wearing any. As for shops I don't know many out that way off hand but I know of a place that does good vinyl stuff, like decals. They may know of the shops around down there. I will find out from them and get back to you about it.

I wouldn't mind swapping out the interior bits on the dash and such and that sounds like a reasonable price range, but looking online the closest I can find is overlays, and in very limited colors. I have yet to see one that comes close to matching the Salsa exterior. I have found a few overlay kits in carbon fiber and woodgrain, and I don't particularly like either. Any recomendations, downriver or online or wherever?

they do not make any replacement parts for the interior pieces. those are all overlays. i've had my interior painted prof and clear coated... not probs w/ scratching or anything. but depending on the body shop or if you know someone, will cost about the same since it is time consuming. i only paid for the paint but gave the guy an extra $20.. so $40 total

That is exactly the sort of thing I am looking for here, because I don't really know any shops in my area. I have seen a handful of Vibes in my area, I was hoping someone could recomend a body shop or something.Trdvibe, it was seeing pics of your painted dash that made me start looking for something like this to begin with, it looks great!

Hey man,I know a couple of places. I live in Dearborn Heights, but, for stickers I go the Gibraltor and get the stickers done there and I put em on myself. Then for a tinting job, there's AutoAmeristar on Telegraph north of Eureka. For audio, like top end audio stuff, Mikey Shore right next to the AutoAmeristar. For performance parts, go to http://www.planetperformance.com. Just put in 2003 instead of 2004. It won't show anything if you put in 2004. That is if you have a 2004. Well, if you got anymore questions, we're here to help. PeaceInder Singh
