If you paint them, doesn't that hinder their ability to dissipate heat thereby making them more prone to warping and other damage?

I used the blue G2 kit that I bought off of Ebay. It was very easy and I have several pics on this thread: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=6177 Let me know if you have any other questions.

Here is a better pic with my new wheels on. You can really see the calipers through them, which was the look I wanted.

Lookin' really good there, Triton!I bought a spray can of red caliper paint that I plan to use before I get the new wheels for my Vibe.I don't see how painting the calipers would cause any harm. It's the rotors that you want to dissapate the heat and they will warp if they can't do that. I've never heard of a heat warped caliper.

I use high temp. engine paint, $5 dollars a can. tape and spray, and they look good, granted I'll have to touch them up in the spring, but for $5 buck you can't go wrong.

when you are painting them are you bleeding the brakes and removing the calipers?

Since the G2 paint is not a spray, you brush it on while the caliper is still attached.

I especially like that you don't have to mask everything off or worry about overspray on anything else. I would recommend getting a small model brush as well to get into the small places on the caliper. I used one and it was very easy to get into the tiny slots around the pads.

when I did mine I took the front caliper off and the pads out. then I put a plastic bag over the rotors and left the caliper sitting on top of the rotor and sprayed it. the rears I left them on and sprayed the paint into a dixie cup and brushed the paint on. It works well and its cheap

I painted mine with black engine paint that withstands a great deal of heat. I did not take the rotor and pads off, simply covered them with a large rag and sprayed away. Worked perfectly and looks good.
