When I spoke to the sales person and also looking on the Pontiac website the difference between the base stereo and the premium is that the premium adds 2 extra speakers for a total of 6 and the premium stereo is 200 watts compared to the 100 watts of the base stereo.Standard 100 series AM/FM stereo with CD player4 speakersRadio data system (RDS) displays song title and artistwherever RDS compatible stations are broadcast.Available in dash 6-disk CD changerRandom disc functionProgrammable equalizerAlso available with Moon and Tunes PackageAVAILABLE MOON AND TUNES PACKAGE200-watt premium audio sound6 speakersPower glass moonroofIT'S NOT AVAILABLE WITH THE DVD SYSTEMAvailable in dash DVD based navigation system6-disk remote CD changer6 speakersGlobal positioning satellite system (GPS)
I don't have anymore info. You'll have to either call a dealership which might or might not be a good thing since half the time they are full of it, or call the Pontiac 800# which would be a better bet.
I know about all the specs....those are on the website. I am just looking for someone who has actually heard the difference and can tell me if the premium sound is worth it-Thanks
I've heard both. The main difference is the moonroof. If you want it, you get two extra tweeters near the front window closest to the dashboard. They sound decent for a factory system. The head unit doesn't change unless you get the 6 cd player. I think that package is worth it just for the moonroof.

I thought when you got the Moon & Tunes package, that the head unit automatically changed to the 6disc change because it's the one with the bigger amplifier.....
The 6 disc changer is definitely an additional option aside from the moons and tunes package. I think the two extra speakers that the moons and tunes package provides requires a small amplifier in addition to whatever head unit you have. I don't think radios can support more than 4 speakers, but I could be wrong on that. In addition, even though it's called a 'premium sound system', I can't say for sure that they even upgrade the speakers from the standard 4 speaker system. All said, I'm happy with the sound and hopefully nobody will want to steal a double din radio.
As it was explained to me, the Premium Sound System upgrades the four speakers and adds the extra pair at each door top and includes the amplifier. The amp is mounted under the passenger seat which is why you can not get Moon & Tunes with the DVD, because the DVD uses the under seat for the 6 disc changer.
