I am looking at purchasing a Vibe - Your input would be appreciated.

Post by Slam »

Hello:I are looking at purchasing a Vibe (automatic FWD version) and I was wondering if anyone could give me some information on the car, specifically:1) How does the model handle in the snow? I have been told by a few people that it does not handle very well in winter. What have your experiences been driving the car in snowy conditions?2) Has anyone heard about what changes will be made to the 2005 Vibe? When does GM typically announce new model information?3) Has anyone heard whether GM plans on offering more incentives for the Vibe in the future? Will the 0% financing for 60 months promotion/any other promotions be offered again this year?4) Has anyone driven a Vibe with the supercharger installed? How much does the supercharger cost in Canada? Can it be installed in the '03 model (i.e. if I were to buy a used Vibe)?5) What do you not like about your Vibe/what would you change if you could go back to when you purchased your car? Thanks

Well mine handles very nicely in the snow and as you know there fellow ontarian, we got SNOW! hehNo changes that I know of yet on the 2005 models. Its kinda early anyway but I'll keep my ears open at the dealership I work at.GM will have more incentives like 0% and Ring in and win stuff but that will always be on older models. Like this past winter, that was effecting the 2003 models. This coming winter will be the 2004. I don't have a super charger nore know what they cost but I really want to install one on my Vibe. I'll keep looking for info but if you find something let me know. I wished I got cruise control and that I could afford insurance to buy the Vibe GT. I own the Base model (see sig) I lost the cruise when I turned down some package but I can get it installed for $515 so its all good. I also plan on putting on the sports package as I buy it one piece at a time. Its one sweet car.

I have a 5spd base Black Vibe w/ the sport appearance package and the sport package. Definately no regrets at all!As far as driving on the snow, I find it a little more slippery than other cars. But I'm sure some snow tires will fix that. There has been no news as to whether there will be significant changes for 05. Perhaps the GXP model will be available? Who knows.

When does GM typically announce new model information?I can tell you this, don't expect to see the roof rack installed standard on the 2005 Vibe (rackless from the factory). Also, expect a little freshening of the appearance and some additional convenience options added to the vehicle as well. That's about all I know and you can expect to start to see the final product after April sometime (production begins in May or June).EDIT: This ended up not completely accurate. The 2005 Vibe still has the side rails on the roof, but the cross bars are now removed and are optional thru the dealer.

What have your experiences been driving the car in snowy conditions?I have a GT and have had no problems driving in the slippery stuff. It slips a little more than, say, my minivan...but that is because of the power/weight ratio. You'll be fine.Quote, originally posted by Slam »5) What do you not like about your Vibe/what would you change if you could go back to when you purchased your car?If I could do it all over again, I probably would have purchased the 5-speed base model. I'm not using the upper rmp rev range like the GT is supposed to be used - it is kinda going to waste with me. I like the other extras you get with the GT though (leather wrapped steering, etc.), but I could have saved some money. Also, I would have waited to find a monotone fusion (not available when I purchased my car) instead of a two-tone abyss.

i have a base vibe 5spd manual and it's just fine in the snow (i grew up in quebec... driving in the snow). The tires are a bit wider than on my previous car so that affects snow traction a bit. Good snow tires will take care of that.My dealer told me that they will be offering leather seats in 2005 but otherwise, he didn't expect any major changes.

Slam: Have you got yourself a vibe yet? Do you previously own a NON GM car? If so...wait a little and I might get you an additional $1000 off. GM will be sending out some $1000 conquest coupons to give out to potential buyers for their employees. I should be getting them at the end of the month. If you're interested, pm me. Note: if you're already an employee, then you would know that you have to be a non employee to use this coupon.
