How CDs are made

Post by Reynoma »

I've been doing a job search for a couple of months (trying to get out of Philadelphia). My most recent interview was at Sony Music in Pitman, NJ. This is where they make music CDs, DVDs, and Playstation games. I had a tour of the plant yesterday...very cool. I got to see them start with basically 16,000 pound bags of "powder" (I'm sure there is a technical term for it), make it into a CD, press a "master" into the CD and finally package. I got to see them putting together the Jack Nicholson / Diane Keaton movie "Something's Gotta Give".It was an "entertainment" junkie's dream...rows and rows of finished products...Music, Movies and Video Games.

Yeah its pretty cool process I work at Technicolor in Camarillo, CA and we make tons of movies for Disney, Paramount, Universal, and other independent studios we also make XBOX games. I never knew they were 2 thin discs glued together.
