Was in our local Advance Auto Parts store and starting tomorrow (11-3-02) they have a sale on SilverStar bulbs. I replaced my driving lights with SilverStars awhile back and just love them. I just bought my fog lamps today for tomorrows sale price(nice sales person). SilverStar Bulbs are $21.98 ea. and 1/2 price ($10.98) when you buy a second bulb. Thats $32.96 for two bulbs or $65.92 to replace both driving lights and fog lights....Good deal.

What's so special about them? I don't mean that in a nasty way, just I don't understand why these Sylvania's are better than the stocks? Are they brighter, last longer, whiter? Just curious. Thanks!
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
I'm looking for personal opinions and comparisons between the silverstars and something like the APC xenons. In my area the prices are similar and the guy at Pep Boys tells me the sylvanias are over-rated. I read the other threads in this forum and even did some research on the internet and all the specs I've seen are comparable. If anything the APC's seem to be "hotter" 4200K vs. 4000K and brighter (claim 50% vs 20%). I also noticed european silverstars claim to be 30% brighter than conventional halogens. Anyone that has installed either of these on a Vibe or any other vehicle have a preference.

Oops - almost forgot to ask - rasermon - did you notice a drop in brightness when you went from the APC's to the silverstars? You say silverstars are more crisp with a clean look - that sounds just like the product literature - do you just mean they are not as Blue. Some of the stuff I found on the web says that the sylvanias tend to be more yellow, which drops the temperature and makes it easier to read street signs (less glare). Is this what you meant?

Just installed my silverstars. They are great! A very white light, very bright, VERY easy to drive with. I definitely recommend them. I found them (finally) at auto zone, $20 a bulb. Not wonderful, not horrible. Just $10 more than the xenon's I had previously, and definitely a hella lot better than the xenon's (except te 100/90 which were great, but cooked the wiring). There isn't any noticeable blue glow. They are very white, very crisp. Unfortunately, now, I need to find fog silverstars cause my fogs are yellow and it looks like shiite.

Those were the only ones I could find around my area that were in stock (at least where I looked). I haven't seen the Silverstar's in person, so I can compare, but I don't feel I made a mistake by buying the APC's.A complete improvement from the stock bulbs. The light is pretty much bright white, with a very very very little tint of blue at certain angles. It all depends on what you like, the price, etc. You can always take them back if you don't like them.

Like (NSimkins) said, try them out and if your not satisfied with the SilverStars take them back. I'm sure you will like them. Hey Ragingfish, I'm glad your happy with the SilverStars.

I use the Piaa Super Plasma GT's. They are by far the brightest, whitest and most reliable bulbs available, without going HID. They are $70 a pair, but they will last alot longer than any other. The main thing you need to look for is that you don't get bulbs that are painted blue. Make sure you don't get any of the myriad available on eBay.Sylvannia's are good, inexpensive, and fairly reliable. However, they only produce 4,000k while the Piaa's produce 5,000k. Plus, they are only 60W/55W.In case you don't know, the number is the temperature in Kelvin. The hotter the brighter, and 5400k is about daylight.Thankshttp://www.autosupermart.com/shop/piaa15960.html
