I'm new here - We are buying a Vibe TODAY!

Post by lashajayne »

Hello,I just found this site last night. We are signing on our Vibe today! We're getting a 2004 Vibe (base) in Salsa red with the moon & tunes package and a few other goodies. I love it!! I'm so excited. It's funny, because when we (my husband and I) started shopping for cars, I had never even thought of a Vibe. I wanted a Grand Prix. But they showed us the Vibe, and we both fell for it. How awesome. We are replacing our Pontiac Bonneville (yes, we love Pontiacs), and it's nice to get something with so much storage room. We travel a lot, so the mileage plus the cargo space will be awesome. Anyway, I just wanted to say hi. I'm excited to have found this board... I hope I can learn more about the Vibe and things to add on and such. Thanks,LJin Ohio

Thanks, I definitely will post pics soon!! I'm going to take a bunch when we bring it home today, assuming everything goes well at the dealer's. I'm always worried that they'll try to "pull a fast one", but so far, they've been more than accommodating. They are going to pay off the remainder of our lease for the other car (which we are turning in at the end of May), so that's $1000 "free" there, plus the rebate. The only thing we still have to negotiate is the interest rate, but even with a higher rate, our monthly payment shouldn't be too bad. Well, that was a lot of words to say THANKS and I can't wait to show off our new "baby".

There is a lot to add on. I have a base fusion Vibe with aftermarket rims to go on once the weather gets better. A cold air intake is next. Salsa is a nice colour you got there, my choice was fusion or neptune and sent for fusion. Sounds like you got a good deal This forum is a wealth of knowledge and interesting people... Anything you want to know about adding things to your already incredible ride.

Thanks for all the welcomes! The signing went well - we talked $300 off the extended warranty, which isn't a huge amount, but every little bit helps! They are washing and waxing it right now, and we're picking it up at 2:30!! I can't wait! Thanks again. You can bet I'll be reading a lot on this board. The more I read, the more I love this awesome car.

Congratulations on your purchase!! I have had my Vibe since late November and I love it. I am a Pontiac person too, the Vibe is my 5th Pontiac. Of course as many here will tell you, the Vibe is really more Toyota than Pontiac but it's all good.

.... and it's OURS! We've got it, all beautiful and perfect. I wish I had a digital camera... but alas, I will have to wait to get the film developed. Then I'll post pics. It looks great, rides great, and the weather's nice enough to have the sunroof open. Can't beat that! My husband has a question: Is the antenna problematic at car washes or anything, with it sticking up so high? Thanks, all. --- Happy, happy, happy new Vibe owner!

i've owned my vibe since Jan and went through the car wash twice. (I prefer hand washing but it's too freakin' cold!) I just unscrewed the antenna. Also, since we are talking about car washes, for some strange reason the attendent puts a little baggie on the back wiper - he says it protects it from ripping off - as if this bag is going to do all that? but hey, it must work, it's still on! LOL....

Welcome to the world of Vibe! I've had mine 5 weeks and I'm still reading my way through the 'old' conversations in the various forums. It's like an encyclopedia of Vibe!

Glad to hear you're pleased with your purchase. They're a neat little car and indeed you can jam pack them full of stuff and knock down 35mpg on the highway... Pete

Thanks for the tips! Good to know the carwash shouldn't hurt the antenna. Lots of Ohio people! I'm originally from Michigan (Wayyyyyy up in the U.P., Sault Ste. Marie) so it's cool to see some Michiganders, too. I see lots of Canadians, too. My husband was born in Ontario. So, it's a popular car in the cold areas -- that gives me even more confidence. Thanks again. I can't wait to get the film developed and post pictures!!
