GM is so %#$&#$%@ After spending the last month talking to GM Performance Parts, GM Accessories and several dealers, I was repeatedly told that the SC was FINALLY available for the 5 spd manual. So we a good install quote from a local dealer I went down to the dealer parts department today with money in hand to order the SC. I gave him the part number and told him he needed to order the module for the 5 spd Manual Base. He could not find any distinction and after dialing all he secret numbers and codes to contact GM Performance parts directly, he was told that it is only available for the Base automatic. Are you sure about the info you received? I’m so fed up with GM. On the PDF instructions for the SC install, they even have specific instructions for installation on manuals. On a side note, They had a used 03 VIBE GT that I could trade my 03 vibe in for, and the price difference would be about the same that I was going to shell out for the SC and install. Any thoughts from GT owners on this?

i dont have a gt but i wanted one . ive hacked my car up with mods that i couldnt return it to stock to trade it in. pontiac parts dept does suck. i'd trade. if i was sure that the trd and pontiac modules were the same(conclusive evidence) i'd even buy a trd one .ive seen them for 2400$ . oh if the gt is two tone i wouldnt trade, just me.
look my sniggies, i had a strizz-oke in my brizz-ain okay, you know what im saying. so i cant move all good. but thanks for mentioning that .thank you very much.athf4evr. click here! you know you want to!!!

I'm about to let Toyota install one for me. GM says one thing on paper and then in reality has no damn clue. TRD super charger is all the same and fits the same, installs the same. Toyota will know your engine a LOT better then pontiac... who developed the engine? Toyota.

From what I was told by the Vibe Brand Quality Manager was that the Vibe and Matrix use different electronic systems/computer that would not allow the Matrix S/C kit to work with the Vibe, and vice versa. The details on that is the 2003 and most of the 2004 Vibe models use a Denso system while the same period Matrix use the Delphi system which are not compatible with each other.I was told, however, that sometime recently or very soon with the remaining 04 models is that the Vibe and Matrix will finally share the same systems so I would assume both kits could be 'in theory' interchangeable. On the other hand, in regards to the 5-speed availablility, I am still waiting on the part numbers. It is out there and I will receive an e-mail with the correct part numbers for both the auto and 5-speed soon. There may be some issues with having it listed anywhere, so that 'may' be why no one can find it! I hope this helps you and everyone else. More updates to follow!

well, it's funny because the unichip is made and developed on the matrix, but the ecu's appear to be the same software. it's working like a charm on my GT and it says on it "toyota version"

You can imagine how disappointing and frustrating it was to drive all the way down to the dealership with check in hand to order the Supercharger and have them tell me at the last minute that it is not really available for 5 spds. This is after a month of getting the infamous GM run around and being told for a year that "it will be available any day now". I'm getting pretty close to trading it for a GT, but I'd rather have the SC set-up for the lower end torque. It is why I got the Base over the GT in the first place. But if GM is still working on the 5 spd version, I'll try to be patient a bit longer.Your help is much appreciated, you must have a good inside contact, because the rest of us can get no straight forward information. Have they resolved the wheel hop issues? That was supposedly what was delaying the release for "a couple weeks" at the SEMA show announcement back in early November.

It also sounds like the 5-speed module was backordered and/or in short supply which may be why they tell me it is available and ready to go, but not in the dealers systems to order quite yet. I'm still waiting on part numbers.

The SC info on GM performance parts site is very new and specifically states "Application for the base Vibe with automatic transmission (MU4) only. Not applicable for base Vibe with manual transmission, Vibe GT, and Vibe AWD models". They have also recently updated the GM Accessories web page essentially saying the same thing. We'll see what Nick comes up with, but I think we are still SOL. It would be nice to know if they are still working on the 5-spd SC module, or if they have permanently shelved it.

I was figuring, "hey, this Vibe is almost 8 grand cheaper, I can get it right now, and add a $2500 supercharger to it to make it faster than the Mini and it's way more practical too". Nick,Since you are still waiting for part numbers, I'm encouraged by the prospects that at least they are still working on the 5-speed manual SC. From your previous post"I was told, however, that sometime recently or very soon with the remaining 04 models is that the Vibe and Matrix will finally share the same systems so I would assume both kits could be 'in theory' interchangeable."I was worried that they may just give up on it since the Matrix and Vibe will soon be sharing the same electronic systems/computers, and it will no longer be necessary. Are you fairly sure that they are still going to release a SC for the 2003 and early 2004 Base 5-spds, even if it takes a couple of months? I have been talking to a local dealer about trading my Base for a used GT, and the difference is getting close to the cost of a SC plus install. I'd rather hold out for the SC if I knew for sure that it will eventually be released.I've gone another round on the subject with GM Performance Parts, but have of course gotten no where.

After riding the GM Dealer, GM Performance Parts merry-go-round on the 5-spd supercharger, I was once again fed up and e-mailed them this fairly rude e-mail. “Dear GM_Performance_Parts_Internet_Response, Thank you again for another lesson in GM futility. My local parts dealer can only find order information for the Base automatic, and suggest that I contact GM Performance parts directly for additional information. When I contact GM Performance parts, they suggest I contact my local dealer for assistance. I don't understand the need for this run-around. The GM Vibe Supercharger is a Genuine GM Performance Part, this is the Official GM Performance Part website assistance, why can I not get a yes or no answer to a simple question? I'm a GM customer that is looking to spend money onadditional GM products. Is the supercharger currently available for the Base Vibe 5-speed manual transmission? YES or NO.â€After not hearing back for over two weeks, I thought they justifiably blew me off, but today I receive this BIG UPDATE!!!“Thank you for visiting the Performance Parts website. With regards to your inquiry, at this time the Vibe Supercharger kit isonly for the 'Base Engine' and Automatic Transmission. GM is working on the calibration to make it useable with the manual transmission but at this time it is not ready to go.â€Thank you for your inquiry. So we are basically back to the status we were over a year ago. It is time to face reality folks, GM IS NOT going to release a supercharger for the manual From I business point this makes sense for GM. Don’t quote me, but I bet less than 10% of Vibes sold are 5-spd manuals. Of this small population how many will actually fork out another $3800 for a SC and install. Probably half a dozen at best.Additionally as Nick stated.â€The details on that is the 2003 and most of the 2004 Vibe models use a Denso system while the same period Matrix use the Delphi system which are not compatible with each other. I was told, however, that sometime recently or very soon with the remaining 04 models is that the Vibe and Matrix will finally share the same systems so I would assume both kits could be 'in theory' interchangeable.â€So why would GM release a product now for the 5-spd, when they will have to replace it in a couple of months anyway, or just let 2004 owners buy it through Toyota. It makes more sense for Toyota to sell one because of the bigger market of compatibility with both Matrix’s and Corrola’sThese are only my thoughts of course, and I hope Nick finally hears back from his Vibe Brand Quality Manager Contact and proves me wrong.

Too bad you had to go trough all the hasle but if you would have researched it on here you would have found a post from not too long ago from someone saying no SC for the 5sp yet only for the Base auto but it has been installed on an AWD model.

I was mostly just *ucking with them. All you have to do is go to either the GM Performance parts or GM Accessories web site to see that it is not available for manuals. They are apparently not aware of their own website. The question I was tying to get answered was if they have shelved the whole thing, or is it is still in the works.

I went down to Autorama in Detroit yesterday and saw something very interesting. GMPerformance Parts had a Vibe there with a supercharger. A base manual Vibe. I asked the rep there about it (he was from a local dealer) and he said he'd have more info if I called him on Monday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and will update everyone tomorrow.

So I called the guy today, and he was useless. He didn't know anything and didn't know how to get the information I wanted (why he was representing GM at Autorama, I don't know.). So basically, all I know is that a s/c manual vibe was displayed by GM. The installation itself did not look so good, however. The clearances between the supercharger and other components were tiny and the belt looked like it would rub. It almost looked thrown together. I've included the picture we took, but you can't see much.Sorry about the lack of info, I'll keep poking around.
So considering how GM has said that the supercharger is only for the automatic transmission and not the AWD and Manual, we have members here with AWD and a successful SC install. Goes to show that its not just GM reps that do not have a clue as to what they are talking about. The instructions for the auto trans install included manual instructions also... why don't we just get a prices of the SC and just install them on our Vibes anyway? There isn't really anything different with how they are installed right?

I'm surprised GM is taking so long on this. The only reason I can think of is an ECU issue or possibly they're having a problem meeting emission standards. Neither makes much sense but those are the only reasons I can think of.
Well can't we just swap out the ecu's from a MAtrix and put it in our Vibes? It's the same engine isn't it? Could always pick one up at a salvage or something or is the price for a new one cost prohibitive? What about just buying and making your own SC? If Sf can make a custome Turbo surely an aftermarket SC can be made right?
