Installed an Injen CAI This Sunday (3/7/04)

Post by Pills_53716 »

Good people of Generation Vibe. I just installed my first real upgrade to my Vibe this weekend (other than the aftermarket mudflaps) I installed an Injen CAI to my car, It took me about 2 hours. The only tools I needed was a Phillips screw driver, a #6 nut driver, a 5/16th box wrench and a number 10 metric socket. It really was pretty simple. If you do this, remove the battery first!!! Anyway, the rsults for 1 day of driving are very impressive. For one thing, it use to be when I first started the car, it would idle at 2000 RPM's for the longest time. Now, that is not the case. I have noticed an increase in aceleration. I am more concerend though with MPG. I have been averaging 30 MPG while doing mostly city driving. I hope this continues. In hind sight, if I had do do it over again, I would not put the supplied hose clamp on the filter. (Too hard to get to) I would look for a really big clamp that you pinch the two tabs together with your fingers to open. Ford supplied one with the air intake on my 96 Probe. I saved the original air intake when I put cold air induction on it. When I clean the filter next year, I will remove that hose clamp and use that really big clamp from my Probe. I would also like to recommend the fine people at http://www.ptuning.com/ I ordered my part, late Wednesday night. I got an order confirmation on Thursday, they shipped it on Friday and Fedex delieverd it to me on Saturday. Very nice people to work with and very inexpensive. The Injen had a rebate and using Matrixvibe.net Club gave me an addtional 5% off.

Your Vibe base or GT. I'm getting a CAI for the base Vibe, hopefully it shows some awsome gains as the GT does.

Everyone has told me the gains a GT gets but I am interested in knowing the Base gains. Good power and all that stuff? I would enjoy seeing some pics for sure.
