The new one is extended to March 31st 2004. Damn, I thought it was ended and I was mad because I was going to look at brand new ones again but you can't use old certificates unless their exp. date IS 3/31/04!
I just ordered 10 more certificates they should be here in the next week or so. If you emailed me asking for some please email me again I seem to have lost (maybe the wife deleted) emails and as soon as they arrive i'll send them out.
I would be most grateful for one of these certificates. Need to buy a new car rather quickly and am very impressed with the vibe. My email is cmemelo@sprintmail.comThanks in advance!
First i apologize if anyone needed a certificate before febuary.. GM isn't quite on the ball, I am still waiting as is most GM workers. as soon as i receive them i will post here and email them out to whomever still will need or want one at that time. again I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
Hi, newbee here. I am thinking of buying a base Vibe, 5speed, ABS, and power package. What is the GM in the driveway program? It seems from the search I did it is Invoice +4%. Is that correct? Are all the othe rebates and discounsts stackable with this program? Also, why would one purchase a Vibe over a Matrix and vise versa? Thanks,Mike
IF it is invoice +4% that might not be any great advantage. As 4% of invoice is approximately $700 I suspect that most dealers are selling at less than that. You can get a basic invoice cost at Edmunds or KBB, but there are a few additions the most significant being the regional advertising fee that can be $300-400 or so. I know Chrysler also invoices the dealer for 5 gal of gas plus about a $20 charge for customer contact costs. Most dealers send you off with a full tank of gas that costs them $20-25. Now what I have seen is dramatically escalating document gees which were $100 on my latest purchase, up from $50 in 2001.

a GM in the driveway certificate will give you a supplier discount, this is usually around $2000+. this can be used with any rebate, or any incentive.no, i don't have any at this time.
Attention all and would be shoppers Today in the mail I received 8 more GM certificates, if anyone wants one or two just email me. thanks to all that have already requested them, i hope they helped in your purchase. I think a total of 10 to 12 genvibers requested them.
In the interest of academics, would some of you who have actually used these GM in the driveway certificates enlighten us as to the real value? I have a hard time believing the $2,000 number.

Well - according to KBB.com the MSRP on that Pontiac must have gone up $200 since that website example was posted. A 2004 GTP with Competetion Group package has a MSRP incuding freight of $28,330. Invoice without advertising etc is $25,943.18. Invoice for a $200 lesser car was probably about $25,763. Adv fees vary by region so I'd bet thay add on to he $26,098 supplier price. So we are looking at about invoice plus $335. The Pontiac dealer where I bought my Vibe is $49 over invoice which translated to a discount of about $1,050 on a MSRP $18,690 Vibe. I saw a $900 discount in the local paper on a $17,895 MSRP Vibe. That's probably aboyt $125 over invoice. I guess I am doubting the real benefit of this "Certificate" except it removes potential negotiation ofr those who do not like that sort of thing.

whatever...all I know is the certificate will knock $1500 to $2000 along with any incentive. if you can go out and get a discount like that and a rebate on top of it go for it.and 1500 to 2000 is still more than 1050 or 900.
My point is - how do we know it is $1500 to $2000 off. To my knowledge no one here has ever supplied the numbers to validate that.

Hello,I'm going Vibe shopping this week. Anybody have a GM in the Driveway certificate? This sounds like an outstanding opportunity. Please e-mail me at: HalKim@comcast.net. Thanks!!
I did price out the GM employee price on Vibes for another person. The GM discount is near $2500, and that makes the supplier price near $1500 less. These numbers are approximate. It depends on the MSRP of the vehicle. You are then able to take rebate/financing/incentives. So, if you can find a dealer willing to sell you at invoice and then give you the incentives, you do not need the certificate. If you want to walk into a Pontiac dealer and pay a fixed price, the certificate is the way to go. However, as in any purchase from a car dealer, they may give you a lower trade-in if you are using a certificate. Therefore, it is great for somebody buying a Vibe without a trade-in. I do have the certificates. If anybody is interested, please send me your USPS (Snail) mail address to mgtomasek@hotmail.com.
Sorry - just trying to get some factual info for those who might be kicking themselves for not getting one of those certificates before buying or who want to get one to save some $$$. The value of these discussion boards is to get "facts". Frankly, I think the b.s. is likely the expectation that the certificate will translate to $1500 to $2000 off MSRP on a Vibe, but I'd really like to be proven wrong. Certainly SOME persons n this board have recently actually used one of those certificates and they could tell us the facts, e.g. total MSRP $20,450 and certificate worth a $1545 discount (numbers presented as examples). I would expect that the discount would be proportional to the MSRP, i.e. a greter discount vfor a $22,000 MSRP Vibe than an $18,000 MSRP Vibe.CERTAINLY those on this board who have gone out of their way to help others in any way including offering to send out these certificates are to be commended. LOVE AND PEACE!!!!!!!

I will then tell you the MSRP, the GMS price (employee) and then you can calculate the supplier price +4%. Feel free to ask the dealer to show you the invoice with these prices listed for the vehicle. It should match if they have entered the vehicle in GMBuypower. Just to note, your example would be really close. I have received feedback of individuals that have purchased GM vehicles using these certificates. One person flew from SC to TX to pickup a Diesel Pickup because it was at the dealer, and the dealer would sell at the supplier price. Craigmri is a member that purchased using the certificate. So, if anybody is interested, the certificates are for real, and you do not need to negotiate a price. I am pasting in the GM employee price. The supplier price would be 4% greater. When I bought my Vibe, I had no idea such a program existed. I got waht I felt was a reasonable price at the time, (or else I wouldn't have bought one, duh) I am not kicking my self for not using a certificate when I bought in, that would be silly. However, if I am ever going to buy another GM vehicle, I sure hope I can find someone to offer me a certificate. I can't afford another car now, but will need another one someday.Offering these certs to 'strangers" in a forum is probably not something GM intended. The fact that these guys are here offering them just shows that they are most excellent people.
Thanks MichaelGT - that clear information will be most helpful to many I am sure. Somewhere on here I thought I read a post that said the supplier price was 4% over invoice. You have provided the very valuable input that it is 4% over the GM employee price plus "numbers". I did not mean to make anyone mad - just trying to "get educated". I used to think I had a good understanding of automobile pricing but there is always something new (or something going on behind the scenes). Last fall I bought a '04 SWB T&C van to keep my '03 Vibe company in the garage. The '04 T&C model year will be short as the '05's were due by March 1st. With MSRP of $24,465 the dealer discount was $3,000 (plus a $3,000 rbate). The "invoice" was about 22,500. That $1,000 had to come from somewhere as I am sure the dealer was not about to lose $1,000 on the sale of a vehicle that had been on his lot for about 2 weeks and few dealers will dip into their 3% hold back to make a sale. IMO there was some hidden incentive money from Chrysler involved.

Hi,Newbie here.Noticed you guys need some of those cetificates. I have 6 that are dated use by March 31,2004. If anybody wants them email me at ar_concepts@hotmail.com.Mike
I don't understand why people don't just use carsdirect.com. current price for Vibe is $400 over invoice + $2000 rebate + $500 bonus cash (at least for socal, zip code 91773).There is no negotiation. you just have a cashier's check ready, bring it to the dealer, they will have all your paperwork typed up, car washed up, ready to go. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes, and that was because I test drove the car for 10 minutes.GM in the driveway program is great for cars that don't offer much discounts. but in the case of Vibe, you are often better off buying w/o it. I got mine for $1,000 under invoice + all rebates.

Actually, carsdirect is about $500 more than the gm supplier discount for the car I am looking at. Cars direct is $18831 before rebates and the gm supplier discount price is $18271 before rebates. The MSRP of the car is $19265 (or $19365 depending on when it was built). All the gm rebates and customer cash, etc. are still usable with the discount.
At the risk of p-----g someone else off in my quest for facts as opposed to generalities, I find it hard to believe that any dealer is selling a new Vibe for $1,000 under invoice. [Some time ago there was a person on GenVibe bragging about how little he paid for his new Vibe that failed to mention that this price included a trade-in allowance for his old car.]As for paying $400 over invoice at cars.direct.com, the Urbana, OH dealer where I got my 2003 is $49 over his invoice - check out http://www.bucklesmotors.com. GM adds to the invoice wholesale price as reported by such well respected pricing sites such as http://www.kbb.com is generally a regional advertising fee which can be $200-400, a customer contact fee of about $20, and perhaps $8 for a few gallons of gas. The Buckles region area has a relatively low advertising fee in the invoice. One example on that site is a Vibe MSRP of $20,260 for $19,097.33 which translates to his invoice of $19,048.33. That is kbb.com invoice plus $208.78 for the GM add ons. Now I know that few here are going to travel to Urbana, OH to buy a Vibe. This is just an example with hard facts to show what is going on in the world of Vibe car sales. [FYI- no one at Buckles even tried to sell me any fabric treatment, paint protection, window etching etc. etc. etc. MSRP $18,690 less discount of 1,056, less GM Rebate of $2,000 less GM Card bonus rebate of $2,003 for a net of $13,631 plus doc/title fees of $70.25 and of course Ohio Sales Tax. AND they gave me a full tank of gas. I think I could have got the same deal in Columbus but this dealer happened to be th eonly one with a Vibe equipped the way I wanted it, i.e. without the moonroof.]

To bellwilliam:My 61 year old mind isn't as fast as it used to be. Just dawned on me that you and I were both the beneficiaries of a GM Master Card program that in some respects was nothing short of brilliant on their part, though perhaps costly. Brilliant in my case as it resultd in a sale that otherwise was not to be. I had about a $500 rebate credit on my GM Card. GM offered to increase that to $2,003 if I bought a GM car that month ending 1/31/03. I was not in the market for a car at all - was driving as a second car a 1986 Buick inherited from my father that had less than 30,000 miles. With that $2,003 added to the $2,000 rebate I figured that it was time to get something more reliable but there were few GM offerings that interested me. My initial choice was to get a GMC Sonoma or Chevy S10 pickup that would have cost me about $9,300 plus tax etc. after discounts and rebates. My wife did not like that idea and then I thought of the VIBE made by Toyota which was the only other GM offering of any interest to me. For about $13,500 with all the bells and whistles I wanted I couldn't pass it up. We liked the size and functionality as it was similar to our other car, a 2001 PT. Plus the Vibe gets great mileage. In late October we traded the '01 PT for a '04 SWB T&C Van to use on longer trips such as visiting the grandkids in NC. DC was virtually giving those T&C's away too! $24,465 MSRP for $18,500 after rebates and discount. We don't drive much so now I have at least 3 years of maintenance free/worry free driving which is worth a lot to me. I think the Toyota twin VIBE will be better long term than the PT.

I am a cheapskates, so I am always looking for best deals on cars. I love cars, I now own 5 cars, and still looking for another one. just this afternoon, I went to a local Infiniti dealer, because a top of the line Q45 has such a bad resale value, msrp at $58,000 when new, I could get a 02 Q45 with 35k miles for $33,000. I was trying to get the dealer to go for $30k, but it was no go.Here is the current deal on GM that I know of:on GM Card, there is some bonus right now, just log in to the earning page at gmcard.com, you will see your bonus on top right hand corner. my wife has an extra $1,000 bonus. I have $600 bonus on my GM card, but somehow my mom didn't get any bonus on her card, may be because she already have a little over $3,000 in her GM card already. I also got a GM autoshow in motion $500 coupon I got last month in Los Angeles. http://www.autoshowinmotion.com (there will be events coming up in Tampa, Orlando and Atlanta next month, so you can get your coupon and test drive bunch of cars)and don't forget $150 upromise rebateso if I were to buy a Pontiac Vibe right now (under my wife's name), there would be. $1,000 gm bonus cash, and don't forget $150 upromise rebateso if I were to buy a Pontiac Vibe right now (under my wife's name), there would be. $1,000 gm bonus cash, $500 autoshowinmotion coupon, plus my wife's GM card rebates currently at $2,000 (but you may have up to $4,000 in your GM card)$2,000 Vibe rebate$500 Vibe bonus cash$150 upromise moneyand if you use Scherry's gm in the driveway coupon, at about invoice.that's a total of $6,150 under invoice.I want to apologize about earlier comment on carsdirecdt thing. I'm new to the forum, but thought I'd share how this worked for me.Found Vibe I wanted with sticker of $18,650.Dealer invoice on this was about $15,500 plus $1,400 options (Moon & Tunes plus Power Pkg.) That puts "invoice" at $16,900.In the Driveway cert price was $17,600.Subtract $2,500 in GM incentives and I paid $15,100.Could I have done better? Probably. But I didn't have UPromise (need to be member for 30 days), nor do I have a GM Card.I could have skipped using the In the Driveway certificate IF I had found a dealer willing to sell at or below invoice, then applied the incentives. But I did this all without hassle or haggle, so I guess I all depends upon your approach. I probably "overpaid," but I still got the car with options at $500 below invoice for the base car alone.
Stoker: drive away with a big smile on your face. You bought a great car (the Toyota Vibe), got a great price, and have a proven 150,000 mile engine underneath your hood for many years of driving pleasure. I got one of the first Vibe AWDs and paid $20,100 out the door with side air bags, and power package. I didn't have all the great friends to offer me GM in the Driveway certificates, nor any cash rebates to assist me. I'm jealous every time one of you shows me your bottom line.
Stoker - IMO you did better than you think as I put the invoice at about $17,400 plus the add-ons from GM for gas, customer contact, and adv fee which adds another $225, maybe more depending on the region. In central Ohio I have not heard any mention of a $500 bonus. [Of course invoice does not reflect "actual dealer cost" as they say in the fine print. There is a 3% holdback figured I think on the MSRP before destination charge but most dealers won't even discuss 'giving any of that away.]

Well i'm all out of certificates I was glad to be able to help out who i could with discounts. I sent out a total of 35 certificates to genvibe requestors.
I just got referred here from one of the Edmunds.com Town Hall boards. I'm looking at possibly getting a Vibe AWD (suggested by Maxx4me) and with price being a big factor I am pleasantly stunned to see thses certificates free for the asking. So, without further ado...Does anybody else have a GM in the Driveway certificate that I could use? Whatever the final discout winds up being, even a few hundred could easily make the difference in getting a new car for me.
