Magnaflow installed

Post by redlava »

Yeah! Just got my magnaflow catback exhaust installed. It sounds very good. At cruising speeds it sounds almost like the OEM from the inside. But when you step on it, it sounds real tough. So far I am very pleased with the way it turned out. It almost could have been a little louder though. But you can only make a four banger sound so good I guess. It is better to sound quiet than to sound like a fart can.

It is nice to finally have it on. For a while I didn't think I would ever get it. Somehow when FedEx picked it up from ptuning the label was messed up and they couldn't scan it. So when my intake arrived and my exhaust wasn't with it I tracked it and FedEx showed that it was never picked up. So I e-mailed Ptuning to ask about it. After a week and a half of angy e-mails, Fedex missing package reports, and anxiety my exhaust made it to the door. Whew! That was the condensed version of events. Here's another pic.

I had somebody else install mine. Probably a mistake. But I wanted to make sure it went on correctly so I wouldn't die of CO fumes at a stop light.I tried to get a picture of the underside but it was a little cramped and couldn't get a good shot.

I was wondering the same thing myself, as I have a Borla axle back and would love to add the magnaflow midpipe... And I can tell you now, the Borla IS loud, though I haven't heard the magnaflow muffler setup...Pete

I would like to show pictures but i need to get a digcam? the muffler goes on easy as does the extension pipeknow that you got to your factory pipe at the weld in front of this pipe then the Magnaflow pipe slips over your factory front pipe"use a hacksaw it will do the job of cutting very easy"it took me hours i will work on getting some pictures up by then someone has already do this?

pasted pic of the muffler/tip:PS: I am completely happy with MF's exhaust note. Coupled with a CAI, and it REALLY growls after 3500 RPM's, even moreso as you hit lift. It sounds like a jet turbine to me, hence the name jetBlue.

I was all set to get a Borla but now I am really torn. I had a Magnaflox on my Probe. It was louder in my car than Out. I switched to a Borla and it made a real nice sound. Does your Magnaflow "Drone" inside your car? (I HATE that.)

Not at all, actually from the inside you can barely hear it, till you step on it.

Well, Today I joined the "MagnaFlow" Croud. I had my Catback Installed. I have mixed feelings. The Place I bought it from was http://www.fulllineexhaust.com They only charged me 295.75 shipped. Now the trick was, when I ordered the product, I did a part search, not the "look for your muffler for your particular car" bit. If you good folks navigate the website, you will see what I mean. The sad part, being the Impatient ******* that I am, I just had to have it installed today. That destroyed any savings I got from ordering. Patience is a virtue, it will also save you a ton of money. Well, It's done. What I would ask you good folks that have done this, How long did the exhaust system smell? Also, did you you lose low end torque, I.E. Speed? Most of my driving is in the city. I know when I first got the CAI, my pick up increased. I will be very angry with myself if I lose the acceleration gain.

Torque increased throughout the power band, as supported by MFlow's dyno graph on a 'Trix XRS:Granted, the bulk of the increase is in the upper end, but you still see gains between 3-5k RPM's. Besides, the 2zz engine is designed to be high-strung, high-revving. I rarely upshift before 4k RPM anymore, and city driving is just fine.
