Missing plastick thing under car.

Post by wicked1981 »

Ok so I noticed something this morning. When I installed my CAI I unscrewed the black plastic under the car infront of the drivers side wheel to get in there and push the filter. Well there is 2 plastic things that are on both sides (passenger/drivers) they have 2 screws holding them in place. This is the only pic I could find that kind of shows them. Well the problem is that Im missing the one on te Drivers side. Must not have tighntened it or something but do I need it whats the purpose for these? If I need to have them go to my dealer?

I still don't understand what you're saying is missing, even with the picture.

Ok if you look at the bottom of your car there are 2 plastic L shape plastic things bolted one infront of the wheel on passengers side the other on drivers side. Its bolted on with 2 screws. This picture shows the 2 plastic L's I dont know what they are for or what they are called. If you look under your Vibe you will see what im talking about.

I know exactly what you're talking about, and I scrape mine on curbs every so often I have no idea what they are for, other than some feeble attempt at an air dam.

OK, that's like a splash guard in a way. i don't think it's vital to the vibe or even really important. just helps keep water out of the wheel well i believe, but i could be wrong.

Helps direct air and deflect water. You should be able to buy those at the dealership.

I guess Ill buy one just for sh*** and giggles. to give it the same looks on both sides looks like a missing tooth since I have one missing!

I regularly run over suicidal rabbits (not on purpose) and they have ripped just about every plastic fastener off the plastic panels under the engine/trans area. I have been replacing the fasteners with metal hardware. BTW my daughter names all of our vehicles...the vibe is called Bunny Squisher.

If you mean the same thing I'm thinking of, my brother told me they're to let you know if your car will bottom out before getting it that far. (Then again, when I was a kid he told me if I ate yellow grass and a live ant that I would fly.. So I don't take his word for it TOO seriously.. >_>)
