About the dot matrix on the windshield...

Post by ragingfish »

Many have been concerned about sticking adhesives on the dot matrix that is behind the rearview mirror on the windshield. I can testify from first-hand experience, adhesives can be removed from that matrix WITHOUT removing the dots themselves! I removed my electronic toll tag mounts AND a remote starter antenna, both with high-strength adhesives, and those dots STAYED PUT!So if you were worried about sticking things there because the dots may come off when you try to remove it, have no fear, for they likely will not!

I'll confirm this. I just got the "outside" mounted electronic toll tag (EZ Pass). I removed the adhesive from the interior mounted tag from the dot matrix and had no problems.

Thank you both for posting this! I was one of the ones who asked about this when I got my Vibe in late 2003. I still have my toll pass thing in the console and have been having to remember to lift it to the window when I pass through. As soon as it gets warm enough here, I will glue that thing up there, where it belongs. Thanks again!

The dots will not come off just from adhesive- I think other conserns were sticking tint to it. The tint will stick no problem- But it will not stick between the dots so there are lots of bubbles

I had the fellow who tinted my windows cut around that area on the windshield. It looks good and better then bubbled. My old Sunfire had the bubbles across the top of the back window thanks to that same grid. I did not like that. This way looks good though.
