I just got my Vibe back tonight. The new flaired out runners on the cladding make my Vibe look sporty. The dealer did not order enough clips, so I have to return the car at another time. I also got the rear cupholders replaced and a new driver's window gasket installed. While waiting for these parts to come in, I developed yet another fit and finish problem. I will list that one at the top of my entire fit an finish fiasco list. Remember, I bought one of the first AWDs off the line in Feb 2002. 1. right rear seat belt will not pull out from the wall without babying it. The entire seat belt will be replaced2. gas vapor recovery tank hose improperly installed during assembly causing check engine lights every other day3. rear cupholders broken 3 times4. passenger side windshield plastic post popping off of its anchors5. 3 million paint chips6. skipping CD player when you put on the brake 7. under gear shift compartment door wouldn't stay closed8. driver's window gasket crimped when the window is raised9. Oh, did I mention the paint chips?????
How did you break the rear cupholder three times? What color is your car? Did yiou vote in the paint color vs. problemspoll? Is the dealer going to fix all of the problems you listed? (except for the paint I assume)
yup, all of them are/were fixed (except the paint). The cupholder lost spring tention on two occations in one of the control arms. The other time, it snapped off. The holder can tolerate about 5 pounds of pressure; it is just a stupid place to have a cupholder when every other manufacturer puts them in the fold down arm rest or on the door. And thanks; I just voted. I have had thicker coats of paint applied to my bicycles!! Shame, shame NUMMI
You mean the compartment below the shifter won't stay closed in other people's cars too? I just blamed the Canadian Immigration agents. (When searching my car before letting me drive into Canada, they actually ripped it out... I thought I was missing a spring or something to keep it tight, but I'm not sure)

They didn't pay me anything. They were extremely rude, offensive, and gave me a negative view of Canadians before I had even gotten in Canada : They also charged me $200 for having a pocketknife with me (Forgot to declare it ><) and an additional $200 for having a bottle of Stacker (An over the counter pill that you can get at Gas Stations, etc). Told me if I didn't pay they'd take the Vibe and sell it to make the money. -_-
They claimed it was because I was young and had a nice car while being unemployed. I think they thought I was a drug dealer or something. (The story is not exaggerated, they charged me $200 for a pocketknife, $200 for OTC meds, and literally ripped the compartment out of my car.)
It happened last August, I'm not that worried about it. And yeah, the OTC med wasn't allowed because they don't allow Ephedrin in Canada. I'll be sure to bring nothing more than clothes and money next time I go to Canada
