Using or Losing Coolant

Post by Gim67 »

FYI!!! MY Vibe, Ginni, was losing coolant, about 1litre every 3mo. I just got back from the dealer and the problem seems to be a faulty/broken water pump. This was detected by running dye through the system and driving for a few days untill it circulated. Keep an eye on those fluid levels people.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to keep an eye on mine even though I only have 1800km on it so far. Hey did you know that the Vibe does not run dexcool though the coolant is orange? It will mix with dexcool but has the green antifreeze life expectancy.

Thanks Gim67. I have a very slow coolant loss problem, have been marking the level on the resevoir and watching it slowly lower (1/2" per 1000mi). There is allways a slight smell of coolant when I get out of the car after a long drive. I haven't been able to locate the leak but I know there is one. Guess it's time for a dealer visit. This and the front end allignment/tire wear have been the only problems with this great little car.
