seat belt and window

Post by Fudog »

The passenger side window pops loud when you roll it half way up. Has anyone had this problem?(pw,pl,keyless) Also the seat belt on the front passenger side locks instead of giving a little. You know so you can lean forward and and reach the floor board and stuff. I've got a sat. sil. base bought in may 2002. It's got over 30,000 miles so far. Also wore the rotors out about 3 months ago. Had to replace the caliper and everthing. Dealership called it maintance. my assAnyway if anyone can help thanks.

I went out and checked out my front passenger seat belt, and it will allow the pseenger to lean forward no problem. If you lean forward to fast, it will catch (which is what it is supposed to do) but still recovers ok.EXCEPT if you lean forward so far as to pull the seat belt out all the way. When you do that, some thing kicks in and the seat belt ratches back in, and won't give up any until it is retracted all the way, then it behaves normally (unless it's pulld out all the way again)At least that's how mine worksWearing out rotrs and the calipers after 30K miles seems way too quick, but a dealer could blame it on your driving habits. I'm not saying that your driving habits ar to blame, just that I guess it's possible to drive in such a way as to wear them out that fast. Not sure about the calipers thoughDon't have power windows, no pop from mine.you signed up in May, thanks for going active on us

I had a problem with the window popping on the halfway point up. Turned out the window regulator was loose, and was starting to pull away from the door, then snapped back. A few tightened screws and it was fixed! The seatbelt thing: as joatmon said, it's a safety feature. If you try to lean forward and it catches, sit back all the way and try again. It's a safety feature designed to catch you in a crash. Finally, rotors and calipers. Maintenance. Any way you look at it. Brakes are wear items. Why you needed new rotors and calipers is beyond me. I'd rather not speculate, so I'll end at that.

thx for the help. will check on the window thing. The drivers seatbelt works the right way, but the passenger side just locks and stays that way. Until you unlatch it. It started locking under acc. and braking. But now when you put it on you locked down like a rollercoaster. I had the rotors resurfaced. the calipers and pads had to be replaced. The right front would pop after 50ft or so or drivering (like the older pedal e brake being released) after it was sitting for a few hours.

Fudog: the seatbelts in the Vibe are very poorly constructed. All 4 of mine exhibit some of what you are describing. They are waaaay too sensitive. I've never seen such a thing on any other car. I currently have a new belt on order for my rear passenger seat. Currently, I have to baby the belt out to get it to move. Even the slightest odd move, and it grabs. GM did not give me any problem when I asked for a new one.If you feel your belt is not working like the other 4 belts in your car, complain to your service writer. It is as though GM crash testeded each of our Vibes before delivering them. That is usually one way you can tell if a car has been in a wreck; the seat belts become very sensitive. Good luck.
