Base or GT????

Post by aftermath086 »

Hey, Im ready to buy myself a Vibe and im not sure which one to get. Im getting it manual no matter what and was just wondering what you guys thought. Is the GT that much faster then the Base. Or is it not that noticiable? I would appreciate the help.Email me wwkdchild86@hotmail.com

Well if the base 5 spd had the option of the supercharger I would say base but then again someone installed it on the AWD but the insurance will be higher on a GT.

Test Drive. I felt there was a significant difference.

Personally, I was leaning towards the base (because I'm cheap), but my buddy kept bugging me to get the GT. I'm totally glad I got the GT, it's so much more fun to drive. You definitely notice the difference, especially when you hit lift!BTW, does anyone here have the turbocharger w/ the base?

Do a test drive on both and see for yourself. I purposely did not test drive a GT because I thought then I would want one, and wanted to get the base for the better fuel efficiency. I am happier not knowing what I am missing. StampedeVibe, Faultine here has turbo'd his base Vibe, there are a number of threads, probably mostly in the Forced Induction forum, or do a topic title search for turb*

Well, considere this you'll be out of a car for awhile if you do decide to go base and then forced induction, and still be moderately close to the GT (with SC, not turbo) because of install and such. If you go with turbo, you're gonna have to find areliable shop to install, tune, and trust. The GT has the 8300 rpm redline, which is ALOT of fun! Plus lift at 6200 rpm. As you can tell, I love my GT. However, if you're wanting to get serious w/ forced induction, the base is the way to go.
