High Oil Level

Post by Fievel »

Hi everybody...long time no talk Anyways, I did the oil myself for the first time on my vibe today. However, after I added the 3.9 qt for the base vibe as recommended, I ran the engine, and when I checked the oil, the level looked to be way over the top dot. I let both the oil pan and where the filter connects drain until they stopped dripping, so I really doubt any old oil is in there. Any ideas on why it may read high? Should I take a bit of oil out?

I was on a flat slope. In my heated garage in fact. I just don't want to cause any harm to the car....I'll let it stay warm overnight, and check it when I get to work in the morning. It's been pretty cold here in MN...not sure if that has anything to do with it. Oh yeah...switched to Synthetic today too....woohoo....happy Vibe.

If it's still reading high you should drain some out. You can blow seals out with excess oil.
