Wheel balancing

Post by Rico Rose »

Just replaced my Goodyear tires (45000 miles) with a set of Cooper tires. They have a good reputation in this area and so far seem to ride well and have decent grip in the snow and rain. Anyway I have the OEM 16" aluminum wheels. When I bought the Vibe they were balenced with tape weights on the inside of the wheel. My new tires were balanced with the standard clip on weights only on the inside of the rim. Will this cause a problem? So far there is no vibration at speed. Just vchecking. thanks for any input...

Clip on weights can do the balancing act just fine. The problem is, many shops don't use the plastic coated type which are necesssary to prevent paint/clearcoat damage and peeling and subsequent corroding of the aluminum. Check closely and have them replaced if they are the standard exposed metal type!
