Best of luck. Sorry its there instead of Germany like you had thought earlier. Probably better support available among the unit's other spouses and such, but be sure your wife knows that we're here to help if we can.

Best wishes for your safe return, meathead333. I will also have you in my prayers for our troops. Rest assured, you are doing a great thing for your country and millions of us Americans are very grateful for what you are doing. Also, regardless of what the corrupt media say, millions of Iraqis are grateful to you and people like you who have given them freedom for the first time in their lives. Their children, who will not have to suffer under an oppressive dictatorship now, will owe you their gratitude well into the future. You are directly helping to secure their freedom, as well as ours. I deeply thank you and the others you serve with for the sacrifices that you make that I may live as a free man in the greatest country in the history of the world. May God be with you and protect you as you stand in the face of danger and battle a part of the evil in this world. Best wishes for you, and your family as well, as we all wait eagerly for your safe return home.On a side note, may I ask which branch of the military you are in?

Ahh. I see. My dad was in the Army reserves years ago. My grandfather served in the Army in WWII. He never was sent on overseas duty, though. He was stationed primarily at Ft. Benning, Georgia, I believe. And I always thank service people when I meet them. One of our local radio talk show hosts (my favorite one) gave me this idea a few years ago. He said that we all should always thank our men and women in uniform, whether current or retired military members. He said we should always shake their hand and thank them for their service. I have noticed that elderly retired servicemen are very appreciative of this, but beware, they might hold you back by telling you some old "in the war" stories . Just the other week I saw a kid in uniform in my former apartment building on campus when we were in the elevator together. I asked him what branch of the military he was in. He was in the Army. There are several Army reserve guys living in the building while they are going to school. I then asked him if he was in the reserves, but he said, no, that he was active Army. I thanked him for his service and he was kinda shocked, and quietly said "you're welcome". These guys aren't always treated welcomly around school, as most colleges today are liberal breeding grounds. They have been all into the war protests, blocking up city streets, starting fires, and even bricked the downtown office for the Marines. These people are a disgrace. Then they sued our city because they were arrested for doing these things. I'm sorry, I seriously disagree with these people. They have the right to protest, I won't take that from them, but the first Amendment of the Constitution only grants them the right to "peaceably assemble". That is not what they did. In any case, never, ever should people's political disenchantment with our government's decisions be taken out on the members of our military, especially not the "average joe" enlisted person. That is beyond shameful and disgraceful behavior. It still makes me very angry to know that people in this country protested the Vietnam war by spitting upon and throwing things at our soldiers as they returned home from war. Words cannot adequately describe what a disgrace that is. You can hate the President and Congress and whatever government employee you want and publicly display your displeasure with them and/or their decisions, but don't ever mistreat an enlisted person because you disagree with what they are ordered to do. If this were done in front of me, I guarantee that whoever did this would be very quickly on their back wondering who is the 235 pound guy standing with his foot on their chest. I fully support "zero tolerance" of that kind of behavior. It is totally ironic that people would violently protest the granting of rights and freedoms to other people that they themselves currently enjoy. I'm not dumb by any means, but I can't even begin to understand this. It was funny, though, when someone from my school's newspaper who was covering war protests downtown earlier this year saw some of the protesters arrive in SUV's, one of them even a BMW SUV. They started chanting stuff and waving signs about "blood for oil", so the reporter yelled to them about them driving their gas-guzzling SUV's to the protest. They chased him and threw things at him. Bunch of hypocrites. I guess it was OK for them to use the oil, but nobody else. This is like Arianna Huffington running for governor of California claiming that if she were elected, she would ban all SUV's from the state because they waste fuel. Then Sean Hannity got her to admit on national television that she flies around on frivolous outings at her own personal whim in her own private jet. Now who's wasting fuel? phew, ok .In any case, you have my prayers and full support for what you are called to do. Also, I agree that it would be great if it would be possible for your wife to give us an update on your well-being from time to time.

Dude take some GenVibe stickers with you and stick them on your Humvee and some APC's, tanks and Iraqi cars after you inspect them. Just tell them it's because they passed inspection. And bring a lot of porn, I got a Army friend there in Motor-T, he says the boys need some bad!I was there in '90-'91 with Uncle Sam's Misguided Children. I am so sorry I wasn't able to finish the job then so you guys wouldn't have to be there now when things are worse.Keep your head down Bro'.
