I'm new too!

Post by SpaceGal »

Hi everyone...Well I finally took delivery of my Vibe this Tuesday...I'm quite excited about it. Granted I didn't get to spend much time with it. I've got my hubby Vibe-sitting for me in the meantime. I, we, well you know what I mean, got a two-tone 2004 Abyss Vibe. I got it with the Moon and Tunes and the Power Package, 16" aluminum wheels, exhaust tip, cargo net and mat. I'm really excited about it I can't wait to be able to drive it once I get home.Only bummer thing is that...I drove it for five minutes...parked it...it got snowed on...and my dear hubby was nice enough to scrape the snow off and then he found a scratch!!! He says it's a small hairline on the driver side door. I'm so bummed out...a scratch and it's only 2 days old. I never did really check out all the paint before we left the dealer cuz it was snowing out. *sigh* I'm kind of annoyed now but what can I do really. And I guess I should be prepared for that stuff since I've read the horrible paint issues with the Vibe. Oh well...I'm a happy but a bit sad at the moment new Vibe owner. Nice to meet you all and I'm so glad I found this forum to learn more about the Vibe.

Congrats on the Vibe. I'll let you in on a secret. I live in alaska, and have to deal with the snow as well. If you remove the roof rack cross members, cleaning the snow off the top is MUCH easier. Oh, yeah..Welcome to the site!

Hey drummerdude,The sticker was $17600. They told me I could have it for $100 over invoice which brought it down to $16100. Plus they said I could keep any cashback Gm was offering.($2000) Down to $14100. Plus I've been accumulating Gm points on a Credit Card since 1996, another $1200 off. Out the door with tax and stuff was $14600. I probably got it down so low because of the limited options.MonotoneDark tint for AZ driving.Didn't want power windowsor auto.

"The sticker was $17600. They told me I could have it for $100 over invoice which brought it down to $16100".Would have thought the invoice on a $17,600 MSRP would be no less than $16,500 - not $16,000.

Hey MailGuy - I'm trying to figure out how a $12,900 price became $14,600 out the door. That's $1,700 in taxes and fees of some sort.

Hey Jake75,It's been 2 months so the exact figures aren't still in my head. I just went back to the email I got from the dealer. It was $500 under invoice and $1470 in GM card $. And yeah, taxes and reg. are obscene in AZ. $1700 is correct.

Hey guys,I don't want to lose my credibility because I forgot a few specifics of the sale, the agreed upon price was $12900 and out the door was $14600. Anywho, you can view me and mine below. Best car I've ever owned!

Man, I finally was able to see my Vibe this weekend...man that scratch is annoying...nothing horrible but you can see underneath where it's white/silver. I'm not sure how something like that is fixed tho. I try not to think about it but man it's hard...especially since I'd like to keep it as perfect as possible. I know...wishful thinking.Nonetheless, what does one do about a scratch...will it rust there? It's right about the drivers side door handle. I'm in the middle of a snowy winter so I'll try to take it to a car wash and wax it...but how does on do that in the weather...and unfortunately I don't have a garage. I read mixed feelings about car washes...so I'm kind of not sure what or how to go about washing it. Maybe I'll just do one of those drive through dealies...will the wax that you get at those places cause that funky white streaking in the two tone cladding? Sorry I know...I'm such a newbie...never had a nice car before. Any suggestions??

take it to a body shop and get an estimate to fix/buff it out. also, you may want to consider getting some of that clear plastic protectant or clear coat it a few times. i know some of us wish we had done that when we first got ours. take a look in the exterior forum and there should be some threads about the paint issues.

Hey MadBill,Sorry 'bout the delay. Serious issues with my profile. I wasn't comfortable with my car being parked there. The dealer took the photo just after I had bought it. They parked it there when they detailed it, just before I drove it away. Trust me, with handicapped people in my family, I'm the first to ream people out for parking in those spots without a permit.
