..and replaced with a Magnaflow true cat-back!I just received ptuning's auto-email that it's now available, so I just finished placing my order. The Borla will be refused upon delivery today +8.7 HP and +7.4 ft/lb torque to the wheels? Under $300 w/ matrixvibe.net 5% discount and $34.39 instant rebate? You bet I cancelled the Borla! On top of this, Magnaflow polishes not only the tip, but the entire muffler, unlike Borla. Don't get me wrong, I know Borla's a quality product as I used to have their cat-back on my '90 Corrado G60, but I couldn't pass this up. Not to mention the fact that Borla advertises our GT exhaust as cat-back when it's only axle-back.Will def post pics and a sound clip (if I can lol)Dyno results on a 'TrixXRS..
LOL. I usually wish that were the case with my UPS driver, but he always looks for a sig. In this case, it'll save me return s&h. Ptuning will ding me for a 20% restocking fee, but that only adds up to a $3 difference after discounts and instant rebate.Under $300 is nuts for a true cat-back imho..
I'm salivating at this...I was just looking at buying a Borla. Now I need to rethink my decision. An after-market exhaust is a must, though. I just need to figure out which one is best.Let me know how the install goes.

You can get the magnaflow right now from ptuning for $294.08 shipped vs. ~$350 for the Borla. I'm pretty sure their instant rebate offer won't last long, and they don't have very many in stock, according to the rep I spoke to.Just an FYI
I've got it. I don't have any sound clips and really they don't do the system justice. The exhuast is deeper, it's not raspy, and you will notice a performance difference.
Quote, originally posted by Psychobroker »Sweet, how much did they charge you for the welding? It doesn't require welding, right? No, welding isn't required but it's the better way. A shop new my house charged me $65. For 45 minutes of labor and welding stainless steel, I thouhgt it was fair
I ordered on Sunday (02/08) and received yesterday (02/11). Fast shipping... I also installed yesterday due to the reasonably nice weather (45F,sunny). Let it be known that the old exhaust has to be physically cut-off behind the cat. I wasn't aware of this due to this being the first time I've done exhuast on any car. I simply used a sawzall with a 6" metal-cutting blade. Anyway, so I'm nearly finished with the install, and I realize Magnaflow only sent me one of the two bolts I need for the swivel mount!! I was quite annoyed...thankfully, we have many car-repair and exhuast shops local. I tried three of them, and one happened to have an old, used 10x1.5 bolt. So, I'm sure you're all wondering how it sounds/how i like it. It sounds very nice...it's always hard to verbally explain something as a sound. I like how when I fire it up, it produced a deep, throaty note--similar to how when you start a nice sportbike up (but not in a bad way). Cruising speed is just how I had hoped--mild/nondroning. When you step on the gas, it gets louder...and lift is reasonably load, but not overdone (I also have an Injen CAI). This could be complete placebo effect and psychological, but it seems as if low-rev torque improved. Usually it seems if you gain HP up high, you lose torque down low...so, I'm not sure just yet. High-end HP is difficult to judge as lift is always crazy...and telling a 6-8HP difference will be difficult for anyone.All-in-all...this is a great mod I highly recommend. I never had anything by Magnaflow before, and was curious about their quality. I'm happy to say that their build quality is excellent. The polished-tip looks great...classy, I must say (one can definitely tell it's aftermarket, though). Maybe their shipping/packaging department could be a little more on-the-ball with the bolt inclusion, though!!I anyone wants pics or sound clips, I can try to scrounge them up.

I would love to see some pics. From the pics that I have seen of the exhaust, the tip looks round. Is that the case? And I was also wondering why you had to cut it and how you reattached it after you cut it. Any info and pics would be most appreciated.

That's the only reason why I immediately cancelled the Borla order.Mine just arrived yesterday, along with a progress tech rear sway bar. I can't wait to get mine installed!
I just ordered a Magnaflow system as well. They are currently on order and it should ship Wednesday or Thursday next week when PTuning receives them. I can't wait to get it in there!

I meant the magnaflow muffler is polished stainless steel as well as the tip. Maybe I should just crack my box open and snap a pic of it lol.
For Those that care, the civic car does no justice to the magnaflow. Try this website its from matrixvibe.net http://www.matrixowners.com/mo...aflowHit the second link for a good clip. You need to download quicktime but it is worth it for anybody who is thinking about a new exhaust. I had magnaflow on my 69 Camaro and it sounded great. Im actually looking at getting rid of my Flowmaster 60 for that magnaflow. This guy had a CAI also.Enjoy

I may sound like an idiot but I was wondering about the magnaflow exhaust. 1: Does this change the emissions ratings of the vehicle?2: Can it be used with the Base Vibe?3: If answer to #2 is yes, then with a S/C installed (provided GM ever decides to release it) the performance increase should be extremely substantial, yes? Thanks for any replies. Like I said not up on all the mods that you guys are doing and I'm just trying to understand the ones I don't Thanks

It won't change the emissions because the catalytic converter is not removed. There is one available for the base Vibe. It would deliver more HP than a stock exhaust with a S/C.
That's right: The power gain is typically proportional to the air flow through the engine, so a performance exhaust has the most effect at high RPM, and the same system would add more power on a GT or SC than on a base engine.

I know its been used on an AWD but you will only find it for a base.

The picture of the tip shown doesn't represent the Magnaflow very well. I've seen both the Borla and the Magnaflow, and they are of equal quality. Sound quality of the Magnaflow is similar to the TRD exhaust. I've had mine on for 4 or 5 days now, and I must say that I really enjoy it. There's a definite performance increase and the aesthetics (sound and appearance) improvement. You have to cut the OEM exhaust right behind the catalytic converter. I have attached the Magnaflow documentation:

Ok, I wasn't able to install mine this past weekend, but I WAS able to snap some good pics for everyone. As you can see, "Magnaflow Performance" is clearly etched across the top of the tip for those of you concerned
