Well I got my vibe back as you know, and now when I put the car in first gear it's sqweeks and sounds like when you need new breaks or fluid. This is when i have the clutch pushed in obviously... It also does the same in 5th/overdrive. Bad transmission fluid? Low? I don't know can anyone tell me, I'm not really experienced with maintenence. I just know basics, and well what my dad knows.
I would say its a worn clutch throwout bearing, but that should only squeak when you let the clutch pedal all the way out and take your foot off the pedal. Are you saying that the noise occurs when you do the opposite (meaning when you push the pedal down)?

Usually if you get a spongy feel to a pedal that controls a hydraulic system on a car (and the Vibe's clutch is hydraulic just in case you haven't been peaking around under the hood much) it can be related to a few possible problems.1.) A seal inside the hydraulic system somewhere is leaking, either internally or externally2.) Moisture has gotten into the fluid3.) Air somewhere in the system that needs bled offThose are my first guesses, but I'm no certified mechanic.

might just be a squeaky linkage cable...can't hurt to have it checked by the dealer, but i think if the car drives ok, you're probably fine.but i'm even less of a certified mechanic than stang2vibe, so...
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
I know exactly what all of you are talking about. I am on my 2nd clutch. 1 factory replaced clutch and now after being feed up I replaced with an aftermarket one. I have not stop problems with this clutch and tranny in my car. Between the grinding through 2nd and 3rd gear AND having the spongy burning clutches replaced....... My original clutch had a burning smell everytime I drove it...not racing....just normal driving 35-45 mph stuff....then the clutch started to become really spongy and started letting out further and further until my knee hit the stearing wheel when I released it. The dealer replaced the factory clutch whith another AND the 2nd gear links. I think that the tranny and thet clutch are crap! sorry to be so blunt, but seems like everyone or alot of people are having the same issues. I am glad to know that it is not just me going through this. I am having the grinding noise now after replacing the 2nd clutch with the aftermarket one and am waiting for a call back from my dealer about this issue. I will post the outcome if anyone want to know.
