Has anyone removed the Auto Head Light lens cap

Post by nkaltso »

The other day I was annoyed by the Auto Head lamps going on and off as everyone knows. I was looking at the polerized lens that covers the light sensor. It is tinted and lets less light through to the sensor. Has anyone tried to remove the lens? Does it pop out? It would be a easy way to get more light to the sensor and hopefully fix its shortcomings.

Maybe Nova can give you some hints, i believe he's got the service manual.I'd be interested in looking at this as well.

I am 99% sure that that cover is a part of the sensor and is not detachable. I wouldn't advise it,but what I would do is ---there is a mod on how to disable the DRL somewhere in this forum. I plan on doing that.

Wait! I was told at the Vibe survey that an adjustible relay for the sensor is in the works to correct the on/off problem.

I wiggled off the smoked plastic cover, covered the sensor with plastic saran wrap to protect it from dust and voila...The lights now only come on when dark. Much better. The lights basically are on if the street lights are on, which is fine.Anybody hear about if that promised fix to make the sensor variable was available? If they issued a cover that was clear or just opaque that would do and cost $0.25.I am going to find a clear piece of plastic in the meantime.
