MPG for the automatic

Post by Dunkie22 »

Its been a month with my Vibe and my MPG in the city has not been what I expected. It ranges from 24 to 26. I drive slowly with slow starts, try not to let it idle for long. How have others done with their automatic..FWD?I still love it!...but wish my gass mileage was better.

I get a lot less but since the CAI and the Exhaust I step on the gas a lot just to hear it. Great sound! Need to control that..

I've tried to keep track of my basic gas mileage on my FWD Base Auto since the beginning. Check it out here:http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...#3069

Yeah man. I got the same problem. The first time I filled up I got like 32 and that was it. It went downhill from there. LOL. I wish I got the stick. I would've prolly averaged bout 29-31 most of time. O well, wha u gonna do. Inder Singh

I have a downward trendline on my GT. This is about 10 fills off... http://home.sprynet.com/~rapto...t.htm Between 10 and 24 was mostly highway driving, to/from Jersey and Atlanta..Still..it seems to be doing better than my Probe did..but i'm a little worried about the downward trend..maybe it's just levelling out..

All winter I have been averaging around 27mpg us gal. This is about 90% highway but with a lot of warm-up time and driving with the defroster on. I hope the numbers improve a lot when the weather warms up.

My sticker said 29 city and 34 highway. I did get 33.5 on the highway..I was just hoping for 29 city. I had a VW before with a stick and was doing well. I had hoped to do real well with the Vibe

I get 28-30 fairly consistently driving locally and I live on a mountain. I do try and limit my trips up and down the mountain, but I wouldn't consider myself a slow driver. The only change I have made is switching to Mobile 1 at 3k, I now have 15k miles on my 04.

awd, 9000 mi , mostly city 80%,20% highway ...right now i'm averaging 18mpg with a low of 16.2......YES 16.2mpg WITHOUT driving like a nut or excessive idling, highest since october has been 21 mpg.......this is worse than last winter in the summer i average 22-24mpg, once reached 27mpg and that was on a trip of 125 miles...i dont know how everyone gets such "great" gas mileage

I've been averaging 28 since I started keeping track last July. I figured it out the other day by month, to see if it got worse with the weather (and the fact that my tires suck and my alignment is off - all to be fixed on tuesday), but it is still ~28 for each month separately.

I'm glad to here that some people are getting as bad milage as me. I know I only have 2500km on my car but I've been averaging about 20.5 mpg(US). My high was 28mpg and that was 100% highway. My low has be 15 MPG. I'm hoping this will improve.

Add me to the list of people disappointed with their mileage. There's actually a few threads about this in the forum. Just do a search for the word "mileage".I've been intentionally babying my Vibe just to see what the mileage would be. Mileage was a big factor in choosing this vehicle (besides the looks). I also drive about 90% freeway (purposely at only 55-60 during the first few fill-ups). I'm now driving about 63-67 mph (slower than most other drivers) on the freeway, but still conservatively on the city streets. I now have 2700 mi. First few fillups were in the 27-28 mpg but seems to be gradually climbing. My last fill up was 30.5 mpg...Of course the EPA says we should be getting 29-34. My previous 5 cars were all at the top of the EPA range when I went through this excersize. Oh well, may as well drive like I normally do and go with the traffic; I dont think I'm going to get the advertised mileage.

With twp months & 2100 miles my avg. (cheched yesterday) was 28.4 mpg! This is approx. 70% highway @ 70-75 mph. My daughter, driver in training, uhg!! probably doesn't help my average though.

Getting 32 mpg @ 65 mph, goes down to 28 @ 75 mph. Wifes 4 door truck gets 22 @ either speed. This is county road driving (daily commuting) with a few hills.Kinda miss my old Dodge Neon...42 mpg and better A/C. Definatly not the same quallity though.

I just got back from a 12 hr. road trip and got between 30 to 32 mpg going 80 mph on the freeway. I think that at 60 mph it might get 34+The fun part was climbing some hills and listening to the cai wail away!

When I first got the car in October I got about 31mpg. Then I changed the air filter, switched to synthetic and changed the transmission fluid and now I average about 25mpg......... could be those 0-12 degree days. I drive 95% highway.

26mpg pretty consistently since I've owned the vibe for the last 2 months. I live close to work and everything else so I take alot of short trips. The best I've seen was 29mpg and that was about 50/50 city/highway driving. It's still better than the 15mpg I was getting in my Jeep Cherokee.
