Tinny rattle under right side of Vibe

Post by nicksta3 »

I bought my Vibe a month ago and, when I don't have the radio on, can occasionally hear a tinny rattle under the right side of the vehicle. It is very intermittent. However, when I do hear it, I am either accelerating or driving over a rough surface. I have had the car to the dealership twice about this issue. The first time, they replaced a cracked stearing column. That didn't help. The second time, they took me for a test drive and never heard the problem. Has anybody else had this problem?

I know exactly what you are talking about. I was thinking of taking it in but I can't seem to pinpoint the source. I always thought that it was because of the seatbelt hitting the interior but I haven't been able to confirm that.

I also had a noise in the seat belt area. It seemed to be inside the seat belt mechanism, but went away after a few weeks. If it happens again, I will probably try to take off the cover to this area and see what I find.

Is your seatbelt hanging out the door?

Look at the device that the seatbelt rests on (right by your shoulder) there are 2 plastic pieces that snap together. Mine were not snapped together completely and this was making a slight rattling. Hopefully this helps someone.

Okay, thank you all for your input. I brought it back to the dealer today and it appears that they fixed the problem. They tightened a loose dust shield. So, I've had the car for about five hours now and have not heard the noise yet. Knock on wood!!!!Thanks again, nicksta!

I have the rattle too... here's my situation. The rattle is with the passenger side safety belt as well... however, it does NOT rattle when that safety belt is fastened. And it mostly only rattles when there are bumps and we all know how the Vibe has a stiff ride.I took my Frosty in for a couple of things and also mentioned the rattle... my dealer is going to order some parts for me and fix it.I don't know what they're ordering as I did not have time to ask but I will report back
