Subwooofer!!

Post by vibecrxsi240sx »

Had an 8" bazooka bass tube installed today. It has a built in amp(100 watts) and this thing thumps. Cool thing is that it can't really be heard outside the car, no waking the neighbors. I have a 10" bazooka tube in my crxsi running off a 200 watt external amp and this new one in the vibe sounds GREAT!! Highly recommended to accentuate the moon 'n tunes 6 disc in-dash factory setup

I'm still really looking for a good mounting position and finding the necessary hardware to do so (without having to purchase the Matrix Bass Tube (identical) hardware).

well, it could be worse. if you read my thread on my amp that blew out, 6 months after i got it! goes in on sat to be rewired and 2 amps installed instead. nothing spectacular, but reliable units: pioneer and rockford.

Well could have bought something better but had a little problem called MONEY. Got the amp from a buddy for free so cant complain and I ordered a Borla exhaust that I should recieve this week and paid to get my window tint. Low on cash free amp? works for now right. Besides its a temporary thing Im trying to get a pop up DVD car head unit so I still have to stock head unit. Even with a nice amp the stock head unit wont help the sound!! Once I get the head unit then I will upgrade the amp. One thing at a time.

lol. i like the stock hu, 6 disc in dash too. that's why i went w/ the amps so i can get better sound. upgraded my speakers as well. i thot about a dvd system, but i have so many portable units, it'd be silly to spend any more. hey, do you know what cables i need to hook up my ps2 to a portable dvd player? i have tons of a/v cables, but they are all rca. the portable dvd uses a different plug, 2.5 mm or something. i can't figure it out!

When we know the whole story, you did the right thing...BTW, I have to admit my gf has a Pyramid amp. in her car. I got it so cheap I couldn't leave that deal.

Cant help you there havent tried to hook up a PS system in my car yet. I would like to do that but I would like to stay hidden as much as possible so I would have to get another PS2 for the car only. The bad thing is I read somewere that Sony is bringing out a new PS system next year I believe. Havent researched it too much though.

I had professional installation to minimize hassle. I think I paid a little too much but less headaches make it worth it. $300 for sub and installation. I'm trying to attach a pic to show the orientation.

Thanks for the pics - it looks great! Can you take a pic or describe how the tube and straps are mounted to the cargo area?

I didn't want to watch, but I'm pretty sure they drilled 4 holes (2 for each strap) and mounted a 1" by 3" 'cradle' which is curved to fit the contour of the tube and the straps run through it. It is rock solid and isn't going anywhere. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize those screws to through my $75 cargo mat. Oh well, I keep cars for at least 10 years or so... I have a '91 crxsi with 160k miles and is in incredible shape. I'm the original owner... I also picked up a 91 Nissan 240sx on July 4, 2002 with 69k original miles. We're talking an 11 year old car that was immaculately taken care of by a guy I work with. He bought it new and as he got older (i.e. fatter) he just couldn't fit in it very easily. Sold it to me for 3k. Sorry to get far off topic.

Through the cargo mat??? Ouch!I thought the mount was off to the side. It seems like your cargo mat is pretty permanent now. Were you surprised that they drilled it to the deck?I wonder how that will affect getting to the spare tire?

If he dropped one of the seats, it wouldn't affect it much. Unless they didn't check to see if they'd hit the jack holder thing..Usually at CC we mount stuff where we think it'll go best, unless you let us know beforehand where you want it..

The tech did take me back in the install area and show me options/orientations. I like the idea of the sub hitting the back hatch and bouncing forward. Again, I knew there would be some minor drilling before work was done. Now I'm finding excuses to take the wife's vibe out for errands so that I can listen to the stereo. My Honda crxsi has 160k on the original clutch and I haven't driven it for the last 2 weeks until it gets fixed. It is getting hard to shift gears and I miss that stereo. A 10" bazooka sub with a 200 watt amp (crutchfield) pushing 100 to the sub and 100 to rear 6 1/2"pioneers. Another 100 watt amp runs the 5 1/4" in the front doors. Sony explode cd for head unit.
