don't select archived posts (I don't think there are any yet). Just search under recent posts, it will go all the way back to the first posts on here about a year ago.

quote:does the top feild in the forum selector the one with(...)search all posts .Yes, that means all forums will be searched.quote:if it does then my search still doesnt work i was searching for ram air hood. in archives and got nothing.then searche for hitch and got nothing. could one of my settings or something cause this??We used to have some posts archived, but ended up making them all Active again just for the simplicity of the Search feature.Leave the option to "Recent Topics" and make sure you also select the "Search In > Post Bodies" option. I just searched with "Ram Air" using the options I stated above and came up with 145 posts.Let us know how it goes.

resurrecting a previous thread (searching for "search" worked)I have a hard time with the search function since the upgrade.. I tend to expect it to work like other search features, but it doesn't. in addition to the search titles vs search topic bodies tip, two things that have helped me use it are : Use asterisks. If looking for something about windshield wipers, and you search for "wiper" it will not return any results that only include "wipers" If you search for "wipe*", it will return posts that have either wiper, wipers, wiper's, wipes, or any other word that starts with "wipe" An asterisk only works a tthe end of a word, searching for "*iper" doesn't return any results. Three Letter Words Don't bother. No matter how many times the three letter word is used in posts, the search function will not find it. Search for gas, DRL, AWD, etc will return zero hits. So, save some frustration/confusion and don't even bother to include any three letter words in your searches. Just try to figure out some other longer word to search for instead.Does anyone have any other tips on how to sucessfully use the search feature?
