Hey i'm Kevin. Im 16 (almost 17[trying to get maturity points here])living in the Bay Area. I went to about 6-8 dealerships yesterday and the last one i visited was the pontiac one. I saw the vibe. I wanted the GT but my parents say no so I'm like alright. I came home and started researching and decided I want to buy the base Vibe. I have a couple questions about it. How much was the Vibe when you bought it? I heard about a $1000 GM card discount? Thanks.
yeah, the gt would murder you in insurance. do a search for "discount", that should show you some options. get the base, your inner driver will thank you for it!

Evidently, the GM card "cap" on redeeming points on a vehicle can be gotten around by your dealership. IIRC, the Vibe "cap" is $1500 GM Card points. The dealership where I bought mine, shot me a price using ALL of my GM Card points! That extra $4500+ off the price was nice And it went through!
I got my Vibe a couple of months ago. Pricing varies, but your first bet would be to go to Edmunds or Kelly Blue Book to get an idea of what the car is actually selling for. Each website has a pricing tool for new cars indicating what the car is actually selling for versus the sticker price - Edmunds actually has regional adjustments on pricing built into their model. As far as price goes, I ended up paying close to $1500 below sticker after using my GM points and rebate to pay off the last piece of &%#$ car. Now if only the dealers would quit putting $300 - $400 "Paper and Handling" fees into the price. I was told in no unclear terms by every dealer that the "P&H" fee was non-negotiable . Everyone of them let me walk out when I refused to pay it! I ended up accepting it at the last dealer I went to - which worked out best since they gave me the best price anyway.Good luck on your purchase. I think you will very pleased with the Vibe.

The original GM Card has a $500 annual limit, "points" expire after 7 years, so maximum discount is $3,500. Never heard of any "cap" of $1,500. Recently issued GM Cards have different rules. I think the annual max might have increased but total decreased. In Jan 2003 GM made an offer to a selected group of GM Card holdres to increase their Points to $2,003 if they bought by 1-31-03. I had about $500 on mine so that was an extra $1,500. At that point my mission was to find a new GM vehicle I wanted and my only choices were a GMC Sonoma pickup MSRP $15,000, $9,300 after disc & rebates, or the Vibe MSRP 18,690, $13,650 after disc & rebates Decided I wasn't the pick-up truck type so bought the Vibe.

$300 to $400 for the paperwork? And to think I was complaing about $100 here in Columbus when I bought a T&C Van last October. I bought my Vibe at a small town dealer a year agoi and the fee was $50.

Wow, $100 would have been a deal. I guess the $ amount is a function of how big of a profit the dealer owner wants to make. One dealer in Atlanta is reputed to actually have the Paper and Handling fee sent directly from the dealership account into his "Airplane" account where the funds are used to pay for fuel!!My favorite "charge" I saw when shopping though was the "Protective Sealer" charge. The dealer said they put a protective coating on every car on the lot to protect it. "OK then, assuming your telling the truth, thats your choice so why am I paying for it!" Never mind the car I was going to buy would have been sent from another dealership! Naturally, no sale. Funny thing was the dealer I eventually purchased my Vibe from was the dealer that would have sent the car to them in the first place.
