is my vibe making me sick? (seriously!)

Post by peterock »

i know this might sound crazy but i think our vibe is making me sick. i have never been one to get motion sickness, but both i and my wife have noticed we sometimes feel queasy when were driving the vibe.could this have something to do with the awful rotten egg / sulfer smell the car seems to burp up from time to time?i was most sure i had seen discussions on this board alluding to a bad odor the vibe produces, but when i did a search using both "odor" and "smell" nothing came up.thanks, peterock

This thread should get you started: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=6352Are you getting queasy at highway speeds? Maybe it's 'cause you're higher off the ground than a car? Can't think of why it'd be motion sickness if you're not prone to it.Could be the smell of new upholstery, plastic & glue.

When I first got mine, the amount of new car smell was overpowering, and it did give me headaches, not queasy but maybe a little dizzy. (or dizzier than normal anyway, figure I might as well say it before someone else does)I was thinking it might be the new car smell for you also, but I found http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...61307 where you were buyinng it in early August. I guess it depends on how much you drive it and how much air flow through it, but I would expect the off gassing to be diminished by now. How strong is the "new car smell" in yours after 4 months?

[QUOTE=peterock]i know this might sound crazy but i think our vibe is making me sick. i have never been one to get motion sickness, but both i and my wife have noticed we sometimes feel queasy when were driving the vibe.Perhaps the problem is static electricity related. A lot of people claim that static is at least partially responsible for car sickness. The Vibe is notorious for it's static build-up, especially in the colder dryer months of winter.

I get motion sickness from not being able to control the motions of the vehicle, especially if I ride in the back seat. I have rarely had any problems while I was the one doing the driving. Also, I've noticed that I don't really get the sulfur smell anymore. Maybe this was caused by the catalytic converter or some other exhaust component while it was breaking in? I know that new mufflers will smell funny for a while after they are installed.
