Security System light does not come on

Post by Dunkie22 »

HELP! My security system light no longer comes on. I close all the doors and I make sure the back hatch is closed firmly. I opened and closed the moon roof (although it has nothing to do with it). I looked through the forum for similar problems. Now with that being said, I had my speakers replaced. That requires taking off the door panels. I took the car back to the people and had them check. When looking at the car, it appears that the microswitchest are on the main body and not the door;so, the speaker change should not have anything to do with it. Anyone had a similar experience or can offer a suggestion?Thanks!..love my Vibe and this forum is greatDuncan

Does the alarm still go off? And do you use the keyless entry to arm it? It does have to do with the switches in the doors, but unless they rewired something wrong..it shouldn't affect it. Try this... open a window..close the doors and lock them with the keyless. Wait about 40 seconds..then unlock the door by reaching through the window, and open it. If the system goes off, the light is just messed up. If the alarm doesn't go off, they definitely did something when they installed the speakers.

I actually tried your idea. Nothing happened. The doors stay locked, but there is no alarm at all. thanks for your suggestion.Duncan

Well, if your system won't function anymore, my advice: take it to the dealer, get a diagnosis and a price estimate for the repair, and walk back to the stereo place.Hand them the estimate, say "it worked before you touched my car," and walk out with a check for the repair amount.

The security system might need to be reprogrammed if its not arming when you lock the doors... It should be set off when you lock the doors with the remote but open the door with the key.But are you refering to the flashing light on the radio?

No..I am referring to the light on the dash right next to the driver's door.
