Cherry Bombs

Post by hjg33 »

On October 4th 2003 I purchased my first new car. It was a 2004 Vibe GT. (Fusion Orange) I will try to post a picture of it in the future. Anyway, I really don't care about how loud it gets, so I am considering putting a Cherry Bomb on it. Should I go for the old school straight tube model, or the turbo muffler which is sort of like the Flowmaster style? If so, what size would I need to get, and what is your opinion on me getting one? Thanks

if u keep the resonator on, it wont be too loud. I used the resonator as the muffler for like 4 months....but it got annoying cause it does what it says, resonate. now i cut the resonator off, and am running a dynomax straight thru bullet muffler. (very loud, but i street race a lot so whatever) With my port and polish and other mods, i really feel a difference over stock.

I think cherry bombs sounce nice on 4-cylinders. I had one on my saturn, my friend has one on his honda. They, allong with a resonaor, make a nice deep rumble. And they are CHEAP! Best of luck to ya.--Matt

Did that on my honda it sounded good until it started to burn out and then it was just buzy.May use two bombs one as a muffler and one as a resonator.

A friend of mine has one on his Isuzu Amigo and it is freakin' incredibly loud. You can't talk to the person next to you in the front seat when you're going through the tunnels here around town because it's so loud.BTW--I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for you around town. I've yet to meet any Vibe owners from around town yet. Maybe you could bring the Fusion Vibe up to Robinson in the spring when we start meeting up for the car cruise nights. A few of us go up there pretty frequently.

You gotta have a resonator on the car if you have a cherry bomb. The sound will be unbearably loud otherwise. Read "you will want to kill yourself if you have just a glasspack and no resonator!"--Matt

I dunno about the Vibe GT but my matrix looks like it 1-3/4 or 1-7/8". I'd say 2" inlet/outlet would do well. And if you want a really nice glasspack that will sound hellabad check out the magnaflow magnapacks.--Matt

It would be senseless to make them from smaller pipes than stock. I recall reading somewhere that the Matrix and Vibe have 2" pipe.http://www.magnaflow.com/07techtips/pdfs/15759.pdfThis magnaflow exhaust guide shows a 2.125" clamp used, which would indicate they are clamping onto 2" pipe--Matt

Keep your eyes peeled in the forum for our region (Mid-Atlantic), we usually discuss local meets there. They're usually on Sunday afternoons/evenings. I know, Chad. It happened on a weekend when you weren't there if I remember correctly. We did have some fun going down the hill and around the twisties on the way to the new location, though. It sure was nice of that cop to tell us where it was relocated to!
