I finally isintalled my Tein springs myself this week-end.It took me something like 4-5 hour to do it. Ok, it is pretty long but I took my time and veryfied everything twice. The car look amesome and the ride is wonderfull. I though the spring would be much harder. They are little more they stock one but not much.
And this is one of the principal reason why it took me so long. The crappy spring compressor from Canadian Tire.It makes the job, but very time consuming to use.
Looks great! The spring compressors you used do look a little cheap. The compressors that rasermon uses are really nice. Also, don't forget to get your alignment done soon.

I know the compressor was really cheap, but it was free.BTW, the allignement does not seems to be affected, it drive tight as before. Is you allignement was very off the spec?
Mine drove very tight and straight as well. Don't be fooled. When you mess with the suspension, especially ride height, you are affecting the alignment. My cross camber was off if I remember right. Let the springs settle a couple weeks, then get your alignment done. There was one member who posted that he had to replace a tire after only 8 to 9 months after getting springs but on because his tire was balding.

The drive is very good. No more rolling while cornering. It is harder then stock coil and it can affect confort on degraded road, but it is not so bad.I'll recommand them to everyone. My only concern is how I'll pass through next winter with my lowered Vibe.
quote:I finally got my Vibe alligned last friday.Ben, did you also get a print out of your alignment results? Unfortunatly no. I forgot to ask.... And when I pick up my car at the dealer, no more service or mecanic people was there. So no luck, but i notice an improvement.
Any more than 3 or 4 inches of snow and you are going to be a snow plow and not be moving very well in the winter. better invest in some steelies and snow tires quick. Looks real nice though

December 26th / 27th, a sunny 40 degrees here in Indiana, so I FINALLY installed my springs in my garage and took the springs in to Hires Auto parts and let them change the springs on the struts for $15.00 each. It was alot easier than I thought and i only had 1 set of jack stands so i did the front first. no air tools just hand wrenches and i did the front in an hour minus the hour and a half wait at Hires. Had the rear all torn apart waiting to take the struts in saturday a.m. the rear took a little longer cause you have interior parts. but just as easy. many thanks to Deepstaged at http://www.deepstaged.net/toymattein.htm for the install instructions. the drop was about 2 to 2.25" along the rocker. looks great too! see ya got to go out for a ride.Hires auto told me to bring it in after a few weeks and they will check the alignment on them cause they want to see the vibe. the guy at the counter wondered if it was a "project" car.
Interesting measurments. Your front is the same as my Hotchkis springs and your rear is 1/4" lower. It will be interesting to see if they settle any. It is obvious the Hotchkis springs drop more than they say. Your car looks great! I just put some Falkin 451 ZR tires on my car and it handles much better than with the Contis. $89 installed at America's tire. They even gave me $25 ea. for my old contis.
the pics are before and after at the rear of the front tire at the front of the rocker. sorry for any confusion. I will measure in a week or so to see what the true measurments will be after it settles. it rides great a little stiff but thats O.K.
Looks great scherry! How's the ride and handling in your opinion? I'll admit, that two-tone with the new lower rocker molding really looks good with the drop.
the handling is real good,no more lean on the on or off ramp. the ride? rough, but thats O.K. I had an old 1965 mustang that had air shocks, and that was rough. as far as going down the interstate its alright. glad I did the mod, it reminds me of my fiero (height wise)

I have the Eibach Pro-Kit springs so it isn't as firm as your Teins (I've ridden in a Vibe with Teins) - I may either swap out for Teins (or equivalent) next year or go all out with coilovers.Have fun with them and be safe.
Quote, originally posted by ragingfish »Looks like you only got a 1.5"F/1.0"R drop, am I correct rich? That was taken just after the install without taking it for a drive. After a week of driving it settled some more.Front 2"Back 1- 3/4"

Great looking car! Looks just like mine. The side rockers make the car look more sporty. Mine collects rocks in front of the rear tire. You might want to check to see what you have. I had a 1/2" of gravel sitting in mine. My Falkin tires pick up all the gravel on the street.
twins!! I took spider-vibe in for an alignment at the dealer, all the mechanics came out to see it when i came in ( big head )the numbers were like this: BEFORE Alignment left-------------right-0.8 camber -1.1------------------ spec -1.3 to 0.2-0.22 toe -0.43----------------- spec -0.10 to 0.10cross camber 0.3 --------------- spec -0.5 to 0.5total toe -0.65 -------------- spec -0.20 to .20 AFTER Alignment left------------right-0.8 camber -1.1 ----------------- spec -1.3 to 0.2-0.06 toe -0.00----------------- spec -0.10 to 0.10cross camber 0.3 -------------------- spec -0.5 to 0.5total toe -0.06 ----------------- spec -0.20 to .20the drop was 2.25 +/- .10 front and rear Shibaman I noticed that gravel does collect there thats O.K. though just another spot that needs cleaning.
Installed my Tein springs yesterday. It was alot more trouble than I expected, but I got it done.Took it for a quick drive, and it handled great. The ride did not seem too much stiffer than stock. Here is a pic I took this morning. I'll try to get more when it stops raining.
It looks great!! what trouble did you have? the one problem I'm having now is i forget when i open the tailgate and usually bump my head on the tailgate getting in the backend.Don't forget to have the alignment checked in a week or so! good job.
Thanks! I love the frosty mono with the 20% tint. Just have to watch out for the cops The main trouble that I had was removing the bolt on the underside of the upper part of the strut on the rear passenger side. The rubber spring mount was sorta in the way and the bolt was torgued on with mega-torque. It took me about fifteen minutes and a few scrapes to get it off. The driver side was no problem.I also had trouble getting the top 17mm nut off the rear struts. I didn't have any metric allen wrenches, so I had to make a trip to the store to pick-up a set. My air-ratchet was not powerful enough to take off the nut.Oh yeah...the spring compressor was a pain-in-the-(removed)! Not too bad, until you consider that you need to compress 8 springs. I'm just glad that I found a compressor for free.I'm glad that it is done and I didn't pay anyone to do it. Total cost was $85 shipped for the springs and $5 for an allen wrench set. Not bad
Quote, originally posted by frostyGT » Total cost was $85 shipped for the springs and $5 for an allen wrench set. Not bad Where did you get those springs for $85 shipped???The lowest price I found them was $105 + shipping. Are they new or they were used?
I cannot understand why people can sell those wonderfull springs....The Vibe look so great with those coils.Pontiac should think sell the Tein springs as a factory option.
Quote, originally posted by Sub-Vibe-R »Pontiac should think sell the Tein springs as a factory option.they do fill that huge gap between the fender and the tires.
Lowering springs as a factory option? Now there is a really fantastic idea. It'll never happen, but it would be sweet. These Tein springs are fantastic. I almost went with the Proline, but I read that alot of people were unhappy with the new height. However, I was afraid that the Tein springs would be too low and too bumpy. I didn't want my daughter getting sick in the back as I bumped along. Since installing them, though, I am very pleased with the ride and my daughter is happy too I highly recommend the Tein springs.
looks awesome.. where did u get em... thinking bout lowering mine but dnt know what to buy
My Car, with the kit on. it looks awesome! come and check it out, tell me what u think.P.S. the gray will be painted momentarily http://www.cardomain.com/ride/514882/1
