I know from time to time folks have posted various uses for the Vibe's AC outlet - here's another. My office had a pot luck lunch and I decided to make vegetarian white chili in a crock pot (slow cooker). It needed to cook for about six hours, the pot luck was at 1:00 PM and I started it at 7:00 AM.Since my comute into work is about 40 minutes, I grabbed an extension cord and plugged it in. It worked great and allowed to dish to be ready on time. Another example of the Vibe's versatility!!

...another use: My son has needed to be on a nebulizer (spelling?) for his lungs. We needed to take a long trip... so we plugged in the nebulizer and did it while he was asleep in the child seat.
I had a bit of rotten luck with the outlet. I tried using it to run my sump pumps during the hurricane and power outage here in the east last fall. It did not work. I assume it was because of the amp pull being too great.
No question the sump pump was at least 500 watts. You can buy converters that plug into the DC outlet for that many watts. Check ebay for lots of 'em and check the fuse for that outlet. I've used a 150 watt converter for years without issue in many cars.
