using the jack the 2nd time

man, i need a drink. i about had a heart attack going home from work tonight.I was driving somewhere around 45-50 when i hit a piece of wood that someone had left on the road. Scared the sh*t out of me.To make it worse when i pulled over the car got wedged up on top of the wood and i was halfway down a ditch. So when i tried to use the jack it lifted the rear wheel instead of the front one. I was finally able to lift it high enough that i could get the wood out from under the car and i pulled the car over to a flat spot. (the tire was already messed up, so it didnt matter)Did i mention that people go 60+ on this 2 lane road.. didnt feel very comfortable changing a tire while trying to avoid getting hit.Since people wouldnt believe me when i said i hit a big-(removed) piece of wood i took it home as a trophy. /me is going to get a drink and watch some tv.. edit: added the pictureedit again: hmm.. cant get the picture to show up.. going to try my own website instead

ouch. glad you didn't lose control!!!since you gotta replace a wheel, maybe it's time for some aftermarket wheels?

It doesnt look like its a fixable thing.. it's bent about 2 inches in..

even if it weas fixable, things just never seem "right" after they've been repaired...something always seems off...

That is a significant piece of wood! I wouldn't want to fix that wheel, I would never trust it to be right, and wheels/tires are critical to having a safe, road worthy car. If that's the kind of stuff you are likely to have on those owensboro roads, it might not be worth spending money on expensive wheels, get some more steelies.

That sucks. That was obviously a very strong hit. Hope nothing else in the suspension was damaged.The wood probably fell off of some dumbash's pee-cup truck that was overloaded with wood so he can heat his house or garage.Glad you weren't hurt.

It's the first time ive seen major crap on the road, but i may go for the cheap tires because of cost..

It had the oposite effect, i looked up at his car and then WHAM. I did start to slow down when he flashed his lights thou..I'm lucky it wedged itself under the beam you put the jack on instead of under something more important under the car..
