I am a Canadian GM employee and I need to ask a favour from one of my American GM employee brothers. I know there are plenty of you here. I need to know when you started to qualify for the GM discount on the VIBE. We here in Canada, still do not get any discount whatsoever. I'm trying to get a decent answer as to why we don't get it here, while American workers do. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.BTW, exactly when was the VIBE introduced to the market for the first time? Thanks again.
From what I recall, the Vibe hit the American market around the second quarter of the 2002 model year, but was introduced from the start as an 03 model.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

They also started a series of promotional commercials during the last Super Bowl.

Any info would be appreciated.I have qualified for the GM employees discount (on all eligible GM vehicles) since 1985 when GM acquired Hughes Electronics (for whom I worked at the time). Now retired, I (and my family) continue to qualify. Over the years since, my wife, son, daughter, and I have purchased a fairly comprehensive collection of various and sundry Pontiacs and Saturns, including our present 1999 GrandAm GT (OlDoodette's GrannyMobile) and 2003 Vibe GT (OlDood's Ride), our son's 2002 GrandAmGT and our daughter's 2001 Saturn SL.As to when the Vibe became available, I purchased mine, one of the first in Riverside, on *The Ides of March*, 15 March 2002.
I believe we could get the discount immediately. I haven't heard of anyone having to wait before they could get their discount. I know it is up to the individual dealer to honor GM employee discounts though. I work with a guy that picked up his new yellow convertible Vette a couple months ago, and he had a couple dealers not wanting to give him the discount.
Thank you all. You have been very helpful. I will let you know how things work out for me. The car is on order and if the discount kicks in before it is delivered, I will get the discount. There should be no question as far as I'm concerned. If the dealer is pocketing the discount, they should be charged with theft. The union (CAW) doesn't seem to give a damn. They just say oh well, if GM says there's no discount, there's no discount. Thats not good enough! I'll be able to tell them now that American GM workers have received the discount from day one, while the Canadian grunts still don't get it. What up with that?

You can tell them that not only do US GM workers get the discount, employees of companies that are aqcquired by GM have the discount AUTOMATICALLY added to their benefits. See the GM-Hughes information cited in my previous post.
