Reverse light ... WOW!

Post by huy397 »

Well, as winter rolls on dark hours take over a big chunk of the 24 hours and now I leave for work when it's dark and come home ( almost ) dark. I recently discovered that the Vibe's back-light is so bright ( and big too ). See, the part of street I live on does not have street lights and the backup light makes such a big difference when I am backing out of my driveway. Wonder when SilverStar backup light will be available.. hehe.

Piaa also makes a very nice bulb that throws alot of light! Keep in mind that back-up lights are designed to warn others of your intentions not provide light to back up by. You will find if you check it out that most bulbs of this nature(1156, 1157, 7440, 3157, 2057) only produce 24 to 32 mean candle-power of light, very litttle, when compared to the stock 9005 high beam bulb which produces 135 m.c.p.. I added a cheap set of clear lens fog lights to the under carriage and wired into b/u circuit, works very well!

Yeah, I don't use my back-up lights to illuminate the street.. I just wanted to point out the super-sized reverse-lights do work well.

It is nice that they are starting to have some functionality to them, and they look pretty stylish too!
