Post by ragingfish »

I've seen several references to HID lighting...what is it?
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

Quoted from Sylvania's HID product: http://www.sylvania.com/xenarc/prodinfo.htmAlso, check out this thread: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=918quote:Xenarc HID ProductsSYLVANIA Xenarc HID Lighting Systems.Drive home the truth. Xenarc High Intensity Discharge lighting represents a new dimension in driving - a technological breakthrough uniting a passion for automotive lighting performance and a commitment to safety. It is the new standard, delivering more light while requiring less maintenance. Xenarc is true HID, the innovative illumination that was once the exclusive domain of high-end imports. Xenarc HID is brilliant. It is legal. And it is here now.The safety drivers deserve.Every night, drivers depend on their lights for safety. With a more intense, whiter light than halogen bulbs, Xenarc HID delivers three times the output, improved peripheral vision, and enhanced down-road visibility. The longevity drivers demand.Xenarc HID isn't like conventional halogen lighting; there are no filaments to break or degrade. Yet Xenarc illuminates with three times the intensity of any halogen currently available, while burning far longer and consuming less power. Xenarc HID bulbs last ten times longer than halogen bulbs, up to 3,000 hours while consuming only 65% of the power used by halogen bulbs. The innovation behind the illumination.Xenarc HID generates light by creating an electrical discharge between two electrodes, within an arc tube. The arc tube is sealed in a glass jacket to filter ultraviolet emissions. A state-of-the-art electronic ballast that ignites and sustains the arc completes the system.Xenarc HID versus Standard Halogen3X the light output Enhanced peripheral vision Improved down-road illumination Higher color temperature (whiter light) Lower power consumption 10X Longer life
