I thought I would post to introduce myself. I've noticed that there are not many new posts since I've been looking over the past week. I have a Vibe GT which I picked up a little over a week ago. As with many of you, I used the GM employee discount and was also able to get 60 month 0% financing. Can't beat that deal! My previous car was a 2000 PY Integra Type-R. It was stolen a couple of weeks ago.Having come from the 1.8L 8400 RPM redline of the Type-R, I found the Vibe GT very similar to drive. The M6 transmission isn't even close to the M5 found in the Type-R, but I think it is still very good, and, I'm very happy with it. I describe the Vibe to people as a decent sports car in a wagonish body style. After having my yellow Type-R, I wanted something that performed well, but something that no one would notice in the parking lot (A silver colored wagon).Having come from the Type-R, I can tell you that the Vibe is very impressive - Especially at its price point. I'm into the performance side of cars and will be checking this board often. Again, Hello.Jack
Welcome to the Forum, Jack! You didn't mention the specifics of your Vibe GT.. color, options, etc.Do you have any immediate or future plans for modifications?
Congratulations on your purchase. Sounds like you got a very good deal. GM employee discount and 0% financing? WOW. GM employees in Canada stiil do not qualify for any GM discount or financing break on the VIBE. Shame, shame. I am a Canadian GM employee. Could one of my American brothers please do me a favour? Please find out for me how long you have been eligible for the employee discount on the VIBE? I am trying to investigate why we do not get the discount here, and having that information would be very helpful. Have you had the discount since production began on the VIBE or when? Thank for your help.
My Vibe GT is two-tone Satellite/Graphite. I happened to like the two-tone SUV look with the Satellite exterior. I'm not sure that I wouldn't have preferred monotone with the other colors. The options I chose include the Moon-Tunes and Power packages, Security system, and Side impact air bags. I think that covers most of the options with this config. As far as modifications, I have a great deal to learn yet in the Toyota arena. I'm aware of just about everything available for the Acura Integra Type-R. I also need to become familiar with what the car came with. For instance, is the exhaust 2.5"? How much room is there in the engine bay? The basics. I have had it just over a week and have around 200 miles on the car. I won't do anything until I know exactly what I'm doing and why. I'll probably spend time reading stuff on the Celica boards. No need for pictures as it looks stock. Besides, my camera was stolen with my previous car.As far as the discounts go, I received a mailing from GM around mid September. For the Vibe, there was a choice of $1,500 cash back or financing (0% was only available for 36 months initially. It was extended to 60 months in early October). I happened to get lucky with the timing of my purchase. Then, in addition, there was the GMS employee purchase option.I went to gmbuypower.com - entered my SSN - selected the Vibe I wanted - found a dealer that had it in stock - printed out the GMS vehicle price from the internet - brought it to the dealer - test drove the car - verified the employee price - AND bought the car. It couldn't have been easier.Jack
