incentives

Post by wagon lover »

Hi. I'm new to this forum; my wife and I are looking at buying a new Vibe (base, stick, she likes the charcoal...not sure what GM calls it...no options) and would like to know what sort of incentives I should be looking for. She has just graduated from a university program, so I assume GM has a grad discount? No other maker cars in my driveway, so no 'conquest' discount, if we have those in Canada. I've been reading about this GM in the driveway program but assume it is for US only. The only relative I have is an uncle who works in the Oshawa plant...I don't know about now, but I was told long time ago that to get the deal you had to be immediate family.Thanks in advance;

On the GM in the driveway deal, at http://www.gminthedriveway.com...rules, it says "Qualified customer certificates are valid for an eligible vehicle sold or leased from a participating U.S. General Motors Dealer from May 8, 2003, through January 2, 2004. "so it doesn't look too good, unless GM canada has a similar deal, or you buy iy in the US and drive it across the border. Not sure if you can get one with the metric gauges in the US, or what other hassles would be involved.You can check http://www.gmcanada.com for standard incentives, looks like some sort of "ring in and win" deal, and also a $1000 graduate incentive, in addition to whatever rebates there are for your area.Good luck on the purchase, keep us posted on the progress, and welcome to genvibe!

The GM in the driveway program applies to Canada too. They issued them to GM employees to give to friends and family that were not closely related enough to qualify for the employee discount. Unfortunately, a lot of us in Canada never recieved the vouchers in the mail. Give your uncle a call. Maybe he received some or someone he knows at work did. I can't remember the exact amount. It was either $750 or $1000 CDN and it expires at the beginning of January. Yes, your wife will be eligible for the grad discount. It is $1000 CDN.There's also a Ring in and Win promotion going on right now. Also if you have GM Visa points, that's another thing you can use. I'm not sure if you can combine all these discounts. Some dealers will tell you that you can't. You should try to give 1-800-GM-DRIVE a call. When I bought my car, my dealer told me that I couldn't combine a couple of discounts, but when I called the 1-800 number they looked it up and said it was okay. I went back to the dealer with that information and they honoured the discounts. Good luck!

Thanks. I just applied for the credit card...I don't know why I never thought of it, I could have been saving money up all this time! I'll talk to my uncle.
